The children drew pictures of their football buddy, decorated their lockers and cheered for them at pep rallies and football games. The annual event culminates in a special lunch where the kindergar teners get to eat with their football player. “The children really look up to the football players and this gives them an opportunity to spend time with their role models. It is also good for the high school students to interact with the younger students,” said Melissa Taylor of Hawkinsville who teaches one of Westfield’s kindergarten classes.
