The four finalist teams - Huntington Middle, Northside Middle, Perry Middle and Warner Robins Middle - will next compete in the regional Professional Association of Georgia Educators Academic Bowl for middle grades Jan. 6, 2007, at Feagin Mill Middle School, beginning at 8 a.m. During the bowl, students fielded questions on subjects ranging from Georgia histo ry to mathematics, science, literature and the perform ing arts. The questions were developed using the Georgia Middle School curriculum. Students answered toss-up and bonus questions to score points. The two teams that win the regional competition will join other region winners in the semifinal competition Jan. 20, 2007, in Macon. The four teams that emerge victorious that day will compete for the state championship Feb. 10, 2007, in Milledgeville. Statewide, more than 2,000 students compete at the local, regional and state lev els of the PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades. The Academic Bowl is sponsored by the Frances Wood Wilson Foundation, Inc., the Georgia Power Company & Foundation, the Georgia-Pacific Foundation, AIG VALIC and the PAGE Foundation. Members of the win ning teams are as follows: Huntington Middle School, coached by Ricky Rogers and Jason Heath: T.J. Wilkason, Brittni Foskey, Mark Ellgass, Karen Degraphenreid, Kristine Martin, Davey Allen, Austin Meeks, Domenic Luppino, James Walker, Jake Pope, Trevor Hare and Austin Allen. Northside Middle School, coached by Melissa Shiver and Kelly Munn; Jasmine Edison, Katie Holleman, Corey Keith, Chris Matthews, Jordan Smith, Joey Stewart, Hunter Smith, Sean Perryman and Lindsey Shelton.
