This is where, as Nix

a field-goal try and gave St.
Pius X a chance with 3:25
remaining.
The Eagles gave the Lions
even more of a chance with
a fourth-down pass inter

Tinsley followed that with
a third-down conversion on
a 10-yard sweep to the 16.

After Jordan's onside-kick
catch, Green completed his
night with three more rush

total of 191 yards with the
three touchdowns.
“He’s special,” said Nix.
“I’m very, very thankful that
he’s on our team and for the
way he ran the football.”
For the junior Ivory, it was
his first start in the Dome,
and he started out well hit
ting on his first three throws
for 32 yards.
“We didn’t complete as
many as we needed to,” said
Nix. “But he competed and
he led us, and we won. So
he gives us another chance.

maybe don’t recognize until
we see it on video.”
The one play St. Pius X
may regret all off-season
happened on its first pos
session.
The Lions showed the
Eagles its option attack, but
could not get a first down as
safety Mitchell Bell, the third
man to get a look at Tinsley
on third down, stopped him
on the line of scrimmage.
Philpott went back to punt,
but he had to chase the foot
ball after it was snapped over
his head. Charles McKenzie
chased the kicker down on
the Lion 2.
It only took one play for
Green to bounce, spin and
score his first touchdown at
7:13 of the first quarter.
“Anytime you get points,

Josh Palmer short of the
first down.

and Thomas Bruce of the
Demons stopping Davis for
more lost yards.

it’s big,” said Nix. “You
have to seize those oppor

advantage of them. We did
on a couple of those, and it
worked out.”
St. Pius X ran eight plays
on its next possession, but
Bell came up with anoth
er stop on Tinsley inside
Northside ground. Philpott
got his next punt try off,
placing the football on the
18.
From there, the Eagle
offense had to overcome to

a first down throw outside
to Nick Bass on the 30. On
second down from the 37,
Green just sprinted off right

he had six more points at
1:15. The lead stayed 13-0,
though, with a missed PAT
kick.

The Lions began its domi

the Demon 49. Rose, Buford
and Cowart made big stops
on first down, but Peachtree
Ridge overcame to get three
first downs up to the 11.
They even elected - with

that started on their own 38.
It included a fourth-down
conversion by Knight on the

There was no play on this
drive of more than 10 yards
until Asip, from the 23,
escaped trouble and crossed
the field for 14 yards to the

The Lions had a field-goal
set up on 4th-and-goal at the

by Jordan forced a procedure

28-yarder at 1:50 until half

St. Pius X had the football

the Eagles covered the kick

play was the big play as
Tinsley burst through the
middle to score a 40-yard
touchdown.
Half of the third quarter
was gone (5:58 on the clock),
and Philpott’s kick brought
the Lions within three at
13-10.
At this point, Northside’s
offense had just one first
down since Green’s big
touchdown run. But Green
took care of that on the next
drive with two first-down
runs. The Eagles, though,
went the other way on a
sack by Greg Foster.
“Right now our confidence
is probably a little bit shak
en,” said Nix. “We’ve played
not great, pretty good all
year and done well on both
sides of the ball. Defensively
I know they’re a little disap
