Set the TiVo to record holiday specials
By Tom Szaroleta
Morris News Service
Set your TiVo to record all
the holiday specials sched
uled for this month and
the poor thing’s liable to
explode. There’s new stuff
(a live-action version of
The Year Without a Santa
Claus), first-time-on-TV
stuff (The Polar Express)
and loads of classics. You can
catch the Grinch (the Jim
Carrey one or the cartoon
version), Yukon Cornelius,
Charlie Brown, the Mormon

ol’ George Bailey.
Here’s a roundup of every
holiday special we could find
between now and Christmas.

but there should be enough
here to bring at least a touch
of holiday cheer to even the

‘Tis the season for going to the movies
By Steven Übles
Morris News Service
With the impending awards
season, indoor weather and
the free time that comes
with holiday vacations, the
box office has a tendency
to heat up when it’s cold
outside. Here’s a look at the
major releases scheduled for
the holiday season.
Wednesday
‘Rocky Balboa’
Sylvester Stallone has
decided to slip back into
familiar trunks and back into
the ring, reprising Rocky as
a 60-year-old. Even more
astonishing is the relatively
strong early word-of-mouth
this boxing sequel is receiv
ing. Rated PG.

‘Night at the Museum’
Ben Stiller turns toward
family fare in this movie
about a hapless security
guard who discovers that
the natural history museum

- he’s played by Augusta’s
own Keith Robinson.
‘The Good German’
An unapologetic throw
back, German is another of
director Steven Soderbergh’s
bold style experiments. This
time, he’s channeling the
style and spirit of a lush
1940 s romantic noir, a la
Casablanca. Given its A-list
cast, which includes George
Clooney, Cate Blanchett and
Tobey Maguire, there could
also be some substance
here.
‘Black Christmas’
A remake of a drive-in
classic, Black Christmas fea
tures a sorority house full of
screaming coeds and a killer
ready to spread some holiday
cheer. Slay bells ring.

Nellwyn and James Moore were among those with special reason to enjoy the
lighting of the new downtown Perry Christmas tree at the Community Candlelight
Service. Nellwyn Moore was recognized as part of the program for her ongoing sup
port of the city’s Christmas decorations, and especially for her work in securing the
new Christmas tree. She lit the tree as a highlight of the service. James Moore, her
