Middle Georgians.” Byrd had praise for his predecessors. “We are lucky that the Eddie Wiggins’ and George Israels of the world had the vision in 1993 to put, and keep, this most respect ed, organization together.” He thanked Wiggins “for his unmatched leadership of the partnership and his unquestioned zeal for Robins Air Force Base. “I look forward to working with you in your new role as Chairman Emeritus.” Byrd promised his commit ment to the Partnership and the base and asked the same of the membership. “I’m open to how we can make a most effective organization even better. So please, if you have ideas, let me know.” Wiggins thanked Middle Georgia “for allowing me to serve as Chairman for the past seven years. What a memorable and rewarding experience. He’s both ener getic and committed and is totally respected through out our community, Atlanta and Washington. LOCAL first Chairman Emeritus. “I commit my same energy to this post as I have offered in the past. If there is one thing that has been continually rein forced with me over the last seven years it is this: being a defense community is a fulltime job and trying to support and defend Robins without a 21st Century Partnership would be impos sible - trying to do so would put our community, and Robins at risk.” At the meeting the Partnership announced $50,000 is headed to the Middle Georgia Clean Air Coalition from the state. The 21st Century Partnership began working with the Governors Military Affairs Coordinating Committee this summer to secure this matching grant. The funds will be used to continue the coalition’s efforts to achieve and main tain clean air compliance for the region. “This is what we do”, said 1 » mLrf Jpl l£Z*"i h- By NEXTEL’S POWERFUL WALKIE-TALKIE PHONES AVAILABLE AT THESE RETAILERS CALI 1-888-SB-NEXTEL CLICK getnextelnow.com CO to Nextel retailers Operators o> EspaM dapombes.
