CAROLYN WHITEHURST
NEW YORK- Carolyn Whitehurst died Dec. 13. Graveside
service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Rest Haven
Cemetery. Survivors include several children; siblings, Betty
McGee, Elizabeth Solomon, Charles Whitehurst, Dorothy
Whitehurst, Waddell Whitehurst, Howard Whitehurst,
Lavonia Brown and David Whitehurst. Richardson Funeral
Home of Perry has charge of arrangements.

(RETIRED)
WARNER ROBINS - James O.
Norvelle, Sr., 56, passed away Monday. A
memorial service will be held at 11
a.m. today in Pleasant Hill Primitive
Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests donations be made
to The American Heart Association

Gov. Perdue recommends new
head of economic development
ATLANTA (AP) - Gov.
Sonny Perdue on Monday
recommended Ken Stewart,
director of the state’s
Forestry Commission, to
lead Georgia’s Department
of Economic Development.
He will replace Craig
Lesser, who is leaving Dec.
31 after 30 months at the
helm. Stewart must be
approved by the state board
of economic development,
which is expected to hold a
special meeting to consider
his appointment before the
end of the year
Stewart has led the forest
ry commission since 2004.
He oversaw Georgia’s 24
million acres of forest land.

“Craig has served this
state well, raising the level
that we market the state as
both a business and a tourist
destination,” Perdue said in
a news release on Monday.
