Hawkinsville’s Victory
Bray scored only one point
on the back end of a two
shot foul to tie the game at
41-41 going into the fourth
quarter.
“I knew going into the
game, it was going to come
down to the fourth quar
ter,” Ellison said.
Oddly, it wasn’t turnovers
or free throws that decided
the game in the final frame.
It was rebounds.
“Rebounds made a big dif
ference,” Smith said. “I told
(the team) at the half we
should dominate the boards
with our size. They beat us
to the punch tonight.”
Hawkinsville out rebound
ed Northside 10-5 in the
final eight minutes.
The Red Devils opened
the fourth with a 7-2 run
capped by Mychal Outlaw’s
three-pointer that put
Hawkinsville up 49-43. His
bucket was set up by Justin
Udi’s defensive rebound.
Udi grabbed six rebounds
in the fourth quarter and
finished with nine for the
game.
Hawkinsville grabbed 38
rebounds to Northside’s
28. The Eagles responded
with their six-point burst to
tie the game, but managed
only two more points in the
final two minutes.
