Perry FBLfl lends helping hand Special to the Journal The Perry High School Future Business Leaders of America Chapter in con junction with FCCLA mem bers and advisers Kama Beaumarchais and Kre Finley and Dyrall Wiggins, Skills USA Adviser donated their time, talents and contri butions to help adults in the Houston County area become more computer savvy. From Oct. 16 through Nov. 6, on Monday nights, Adult Computer Classes were held at Perry High School. Perdue’s wife and first director of the gifted program in Houston County, recently stopped by David A. Perdue Elementary School for a tour and visit with students. Perdue developed Houston County’s Gifted Program in the 19705. She began the FOCUS program and hired the first group of FOCUS teachers. She visited with FOCUS teacher Shelia Love and her students. According to a release from the school, children were “very impressed” with Perdue and asked to have their picture taken with her. The students are shown with Love and Perdue in the attached photo. instructors, Jean Provitt, Sherry Johnson and Jeff Sans, Angela Songbird, a student teacher attending University of Phoenix, Bill Loudermilk, a retiree from the Houston County Board of Education, Elbe Loudermilk, PHS School Technology coor dinator, along with FBLA members provided assis tance in the classes. Topics covered included: Microsoft Word, how to format let ters and memos, create fly ers, bookmarks, calendars, Power Point Presentations, scanning and how to search Perdue's visit information on the internet. FBLA and FCCLA student organizations assisted in making this, according to a release from the school, a well-planned and organized event. The Adult Computer class es’ attendees complimented both organizations on their dedication, leadership and professionalism during the four weeks of classes. Nov. 6, Barbara Wall, director of Tech/Career Education, presented par ticipants with completion certificates for attending.
