City of Perry hit by
power outage
A substantial part of Perry and
the mid-county area were in total
darkness for about a half hour on
Monday night.
The outage followed a number
of very brief blackouts and left
Perry without streetlights or traf
fic signals. Public Safety Director
George Potter said that the police
force managed to have all of the
intersections under control within
20 minutes, and there were no
collisions.
Potter noted that the Georgia
Department of Transportation traf
fic lights which are computerized,
frequently do not work well after
outages, and the timing of the
signals may need readjusting.
