Richmond Cold Storage, MGTC announces
Quick Start training initiative

Middle Georgia Technical
College, and the Georgia
Quick Start program signed
an agreement Friday to pro
vide training for Richmond
Cold Storage employees at
the Middle Georgia Technical
College campus in Warner
Robins.
Richmond Cold Storage
Company manages and
operates the Perry, Georgia
Distribution Center for
Perdue Farms Inc. The facil
ity encompasses 187,000
square feet of temperature
controlled warehouse space.
The distribution center pro
vides warehousing and ship
ment of fresh, frozen and
further processed products.
RCS is provider of supply
chain solutions for manufac
turers and distributors.
Established in 1907 and
headquartered in Richmond,
Virginia, RCS provides third
party temperature con
trolled and dry warehous
ing, distribution and logis
tics services for a multitude
of companies. These ser
vices are provided through

Quick Start, according to a
release, is Georgia’s premiere
economic development pro
gram, administered through
the Department of Technical
and Adult Education. The
Quick Start program is an
economic incentive program
that provides employee train
ing, at no cost, for qualified
companies moving into the
state and qualified existing
companies that are expand
ing their work force.
The program has been
in existence for 39 years.
During this time period,
more than 613,832 trainees
have benefited from Quick
Start services in a wide
variety of more than 5,149
expansion and relocation
projects.
The Quick Start training
agreement was developed
based on a Project Study that
was conducted at Richmond
Cold Storage in Perry, GA.
The training agreement,

tors, for the classes.
The training program
involves three distinct
partners: Richmond Cold
Storage, Middle Georgia
Technical College, and
Quick Start. Each partner
will be responsible for the
successful completion of this
program. Upon completion
of the Quick Start training,
Middle Georgia Technical
College will continue to
assist RCS with ongoing
training programs.

Cold Storage,” said Dr. Ivan
Allen, president of Middle
Technical College. “Our
College is devoted to build
ing a stronger Georgia by
developing a highly skilled
workforce, and Richmond
Cold Storage is a vital part
of Middle Georgia’s econom

In addition, those who
complete basic training
earn credits toward an
associate degree through
the Community College of
the Air Fqrce. He is the son
of Leslie Dugger of Rural
Route 1, Roosevelt, Okla.,
and brother of Jacklyn
Rumbaugh of E. Flournoy
Road, Hawkinsville. He is
also a 1999 graduate of Perry
High School.

Slappey as president and
chief executive officer of
Security Bank of Houston
County.
Slappey
has served

president,
and most
recently as
executive
vice presi
dent and
chief operating officer. His
banking career spans more
than 30 years.
William D. (Derry)
Watson, former president,
remains as vice chairman of
the board and will focus on
business development and
retention in the Perry mar
ket in addition to taking
care of his existing portfo
lio. Penny Byrd continues
as vice president/branch
manager of the Perry office,
leading commercial and
retail lending, business
