Two of the relays, the 200 and 400 Free,
won first place. This included team mem
bers Culpepper and Cunningham and
Lesley Haller, Brandi Womack, Rachel
Sundry and Brittani Wharton.
Placing third in the 200 Medley were
Shannon Sulik, Holly Odom, Sundry and
Wharton. “I was pleased with the first
place win,” Hawkins said. “It takes an
overall effort from the swimmers in both
their individual events and definitely in
the relays.
“This week we will be knuckling down
our relay take-offs and starts.”
Over on the boys’ side. Jackson Smith
and Erik Hanson were the leaders, with
each of them earning 11 points.
Smith had a second place in the 200 IM
and was fifth in the 100 Back.
“Jackson had an ‘amazing’ swim in
the 200 IM,” Hawkins said. “He was
dominant in the 50 backstroke leg of the
individual medley.”
Hanson had a second place in the 100
fly and was fifth in the 50 free.
Also, senior co-captain Olen Harris
placed sixth in the 500 Free while he suc
ceeded in dropping more than 27 seconds
in his events, Hawkins said.
Other scoring swimmers were Stanley
Jackson, who had 5 points and Jamieson
Jensen with 2.
In addition, the boys placed in three out
of the five relays for a total of 16 points.
The team placed sixth in both the 200
Medley and the 200 Free with members
including Josh Bryant, Mathew Kinsey,
Paul Poorman, Hanson and Smith. The
400 Free Relay team of Travis Boggs,
Tyler Harris, Skyler Holcomb and
Kinsey finished in seventh.
The team travels to the Panther-
Wolfpack Invitational in Augusta
Saturday for a meet beginning at noon.
