Firing range Jan. 22 and 23

of two classroom sessions
and one session on the firing
range. The classroom ses

two hours and will cover
topics about handgun safety,
shooting and laws concern

Ragin Center dedication
ceremony set for weekend

The Herman Ragin
Center will be dedicated in
a special cerem
ony Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
The Houston County Board
of Education unanimously
voted to rename the Perry
Elementary School com
plex for Herman C. Ragin
Sr., former Houston County
teacher, coach, athletic
director and principal.
The dedication ceremony
will be held at the Eric
P Staples board office.
Ragin was born in Houston
County and attended school
in Perry, graduating from
the Perry Training School
in 1945.
He attended Johnson C.
Smith University on an
athletic scholarship and
received his Bachelor s
degree in 1949. Ragin
holds a M.Ed. in Education
Administration from
Atlanta University.
He taught in North
Carolina before returning
to his hometown to become

his retirement in 1980.
Ragin still resides in
