Plans under way for
Dogwood pageant
Plans are under way for the
2007 Miss Dogwood Pageants,
sponsored by the Perry High
School cheerleaders.
The pageants will be held
March 3 in the Perry High School
auditorium. The divisions are
as follows: Tiny Miss Dogwood
4 years old - 4 and SK: Little
Miss Dogwood - first and sec
ond grade: Junior Miss Dogwood
- third, fourth and fifth grade:
Pre-Teen Miss Dogwood - sixth
and seventh grade; Teen Miss
Dogwood - eighth, ninth and 10th
grade: and Miss Dogwood - 11th
grade through age 22.
The Dogwood Queens will
reign over the Dogwood Festival
in Perry April 14-15.
Contestants must live, work or
attend school in Houston County.

mailed. The deadline to enter is
Feb. 25.
Also, the Dogwood Tea will be

WRHS students offer
free pet photos
Warner Robins High School’s
“photo kids” will be offering free
Valentine pet photos Saturday.
To that end. you can bring your
pet to Paws, Claws & and Fins at
315-B Highway 247 in the Sandy
Run Plaza between 11 a.m. and
3 p.m. and take home a photo
of your pet. While the photos are
free, donations will be accepted
for the Homeless Animal Rescue
& Placement Services.

Westfield student makes
trip to Antarctica

At the Westfield Schools, the day
is like any other school day. The
students rush from class to class,
breaking out books and the class
is ready.

with plan

Redevelopment was the
word of the day Monday at the
Warner Robins City Council
meeting.
The city council adopted
its urban redevelopment plan
and appointed itself as the
Warner Robins Redevelopment
Authority.
The council also adopted the
community agenda portion
of its 20-year comprehensive
plan update, which includes
the redevelopment plan, and
approved the advertising of
a public hearing on how the
city plans to spend $669,000
in Community Development
Block Grants from the U.S.
Department of Housing and
Urban Development.
About $91,000 of that is ear
marked for clearance, acqui
sition, and/or demolition of
vacant or hazardous lots and
buildings in the area target

Russell bridge to be
named after Wiggins

Senate Resolution 104 pro
poses honoring former 21st
Century Partnership Chairman
Eddie Wiggins by naming a
bridge after him.
The resolution authored by
state Senator Ross Tolleson,
R-Perry, would dedicate the
Russell Parkway Bridge over
Ga. 247 to Gate 14 at Robins
Air Force Base as the Eddie
Wiggins Bridge.
The resolution was Senate
read and referred to Senate
Transportation Committee
on Jan. 30. State Senator
