Perdue names Shaw
Blackmon to state board

Z. Shaw Blackmon 111, was
appointed as a member at
large to the state Board of
Community Affairs.
Blackmon, 33, of Warner
Robins, is on the executive
board of the Warner Robins
Area Chamber of Commerce,
serving as vice chairman of
economic affairs. He serves
as the president of National
Bank Products, headquar
tered in Warner Robins, and
also served as a district sales
manager, information officer
and chief operating officer
for the company.
His first meeting with the
state board was today.

uation of its Most Excellent
Senior Team Scholarship
program.
Established in 1997, the
scholarship, according to a
release, demonstrates the
Credit Union’s support for
education, and its desire
to help qualified members
with the cost of attending
school.
Over the past 10 years,
the program has given more
than $130,000 to qualified
students. In April of 2007,

Components Apprentice
Course at Sheppard Air
Force Base, Wichita Falls,
Texas.
The course is designed to
train airmen to analyze per
formance and isolate mal
functions of aircraft avionic
test equipment, support
equipment, and aircraft com
ponents to determine opera
tional condition. Avionic
systems include radar, navi
gation, communications,
weapons control and deliv
ery, electronic warfare, and

Blackmon, said he hopes
to help local communities
with grants from state and
federal sources and hopes
to be in a position to help

on several local boards
including the board of direc
tors of the Georgia Golf Hall
of Fame, Sunmark Bank,
the Museum of Aviation, the
Houston County Heritage
Foundation, Central Baptist
Church of Warner Robins
and is chairman of the
Middle Georgia Technical
College Foundation.
“I put a lot of my time
and efforts to raise money
five, four-year scholarships
of $4,000 each will be award
ed to graduating seniors who
have been accepted at (and
will attend) a college, uni
versity or vocational school
in 2007.
This scholarship is based
on a one-page essay, scho
lastic performance, extra
curricular and community
activities, letters of recom
mendation, and level of
financial need. All gradu
ating high school seniors
who are members of Robins
Federal Credit Union are
encouraged to apply.

ernor’s office about serving
on the Community Affairs
board. “They sent me infor
mation, I reviewed it to see
if I could be a benefit to
the community and it was
something I’d enjoy doing,”
Blackmon said. “I told them
I’d be interested.”
Blackmon was raised
in Warner Robins, went
to school here, earned a
bachelor s degree in man
agement information sys
tems from the University of
Georgia, and returned here
to work.

Boot camp registration gets under way

The Cantrell Wellness
Center is currently accept
ing registration for its
Winter Boot Camp.
Individuals interested in
achieving fitness or weight
loss goals are encouraged
to register for this exclusive
training program.
The camp offers person
alized health and fitness
training in a small group
setting and, according to
a release, is “designed to
achieve measurable results
for each participant.”
Training begins Monday.
Participants will meet
Mondays and Thursdays of
each week at 5:30 am.
The eight-week train
ing will include well
ness assessments, nutri
tional counseling, fitness
enhancement techniques
and “get you going” moti
vation.
“A challenging exercise
regimen will incorporate
circuit training, water
aerobics and four days of
independent workouts,”
the release reads.

for the best individual
performance,” said Walt
Schubert, a Summer Boot
Camp survivor. “They
reminded me of coaches

from survivors have influ
enced the center to offer
Winter Boot Camp and

under way.
