Could there be more
reward for Northside High
School’s state championship
football season?
For a few members of the
Eagle senior class, there
was in the form of college
scholarships offered and
signed Wednesday in what
is called “National Signing
Day,” the first day prep foot
ball prospects of the Class of
2007 can sign those letters
of-intent for the upcoming

Eagles who signed papers

Four Warner Robins High
School athletes signed schol
arships during ceremonies
held in the school library
Wednesday morning.
Christopher Steplight
committed to play soccer at
Middle Georgia Community
College in Cochran.
Football players Mark
Wright Jr., Laron Scott and
Brian Buford also signed.
“Today is a testament to
their hard work,” said ath

signings.
Steplight chose Middle
Georgia because, “In past
years, some of our players
went to Middle Georgia, and
they were players I looked
up to.”

Signing Day,” the first day
prep football prospects can
sign letters-of-intent as a
ticket to continuing playing
the game at the next level.
Three colleges secured the
services of these six play
ers. Defensive end Dexter
Holman, running back
Eric O’Neal and tight end
Ben Collins all signed with
Coastal Carolina. Defensive

“I remember when I used
to throw him around in the
den.”
So said maternal grand
father Robert McDonald in
the moments leading up to
Perry High School’s Robby
Taylor signing a football
scholarship to the University
of West Georgia.
“You can’t do that, any
more,” promptly whispered
the senior’s maternal grand
mother, Jeanne.
No, in fact there aren’t
many these days who can
throw around today’s 5-foot

there’ll be a few more now
that he’s going to be play
