but swam to a prelim time
of 1:56.66.
“Clearly, Anne was deter
mined to have another best
time,” said Hawkins, “so
she swam a 1:55.78 to earn
eighth place in the 200 free.
“Anne’s three-second
drop in the 500 free was
an impressive race to see,”
Hawkins added. “Anne was
amazing!”
Teammate Abigail
Cunningham was seeded
with a time for the 100 back
as 1:04.14 but she finished
the prelims with a trip to the
finals and a time of 1:02.44.

each Area 4-AAA runner-up.
Benefield was also 2-1 - both

“I am very pleased with
the way the boys performed
this past weekend,” said
Northside head coach Dan
Kelly, “(especially) consider
ing the drawbacks we have
had to work through.
“We lost our varsity 135,
140, 171 and 215 over the

prelims with a 1:50.17.
“Although none of the
relays progressed to the
finals,” Hawkins said. “I
was very proud of the relay
swimmers: Lesley Haller,
Holly Odom, Brooke Robles,
Shannon Sulik, Rachel

at the state championship
meet,” Hawkins said. “We
are excited about the results
of the meet and we are ready
for the challenge next year
for our relays to be able to
compete in the finals!”

quarter, Peach stayed ahead
by three, 38-35. Burgess
blocked two shots and scored
twice on offensive rebounds.
But early in the fourth,
the Lady Trojans scored five
points on shots that banked
their way through. Those
would be their only field
goals of the period, and it
took West’s only basket of
the second half and a three
point play from Roberts with
2:59 remaining to forge the
44-44 tie.
Peach’s girls played at
Spalding High against Mary
Persons Tuesday night in
the 4-AAA tournament. The
Perry High boys are set to
play today in Griffin.
