WRPD signing
up for next
police academy
By RATLIGHTNER
Journal Staff Writer
The purpose of the
Citizen’s Police Academy is
not to teach members of the
community to be police offi
cers. Instead, said instruc
tor Capt. John Clay, “it’s
an opportunity for them to
gain a better understanding
of the responsibilities and
challenges of the police pro
fession.”
Participants in the 12-
week program learn about
the criminal justice system,
how to work with local police
to address community prob
lems and more specifically
about the different units
and training for the Warner
Robins Police Department
- from CSI and CID to
CARES.
The classes will be held
6-8 p.m. Tuesday evenings
from March 6 through May
22 at the Warner Robins
Police Department Training
Center on Stalnaker Avenue,
off Ga. 247 South, near
Anchor Glass and Northrop
