Robins AFB celebrates 50th year of training
BY NANCY F. HA WK
Journal Staff Writer
The military services are
often recognized for their
armament, and their trans
portation, but a component
not often spotlighted is the
training in the leadership
arena.
Start with the oath.
Everyone who enters the
service takes one.
Archaic to some, it is
where everything begins.
Basic training throughout
the branches of services
lays down the foundations.
Following basic, another
schoolhouse trains, medics,
maintenance, drivers etc,
and helps airmen to start
a job assignment in the Air
Force.
The modern military does
not stop there. It is known
worldwide for its supe
rior training; training that
involves the making of lead
ers, with a proven leadership
ethic that is melded under
fire and experiences.
Robins AFB recently cel
ebrated the graduation of
its 50th year of training and
preparing future Air Force
Leaders. Training seasoned
military members for ever
increasing responsibility,
both physically and mentally,
ever-increasing the end goal.
The motto for the school is
“Enter to Leam-Depart to
Lead”
Chief Master Sgt. Roy
Lapioli, Commandant, and
Senior Master Sgt. Eric
Miller, Director of Education
are part of the command
structure of Warner Robins
AFB’s leadership school. In
their movements, a delib
erate confidence meets the
visitor.
Miller contrasts the train
ing of service members with
the civilian counterparts,”
he said. Basic training is the
first level of training and
filtering. Bv the time the
airman has completed the
initial school process, only
the toughest will make it to
a permanent station.
The military is not for
everyone, but those who
stay can expect a journey
of enrichment from the Air
Force that has few competi
tors.
