at Middle Georgia Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports
Medicine

top employee

Dexter Cornelius has
been named “Employee of
the Year” at Middle Georgia
Orthopaedic Surgery
and Sports Medicine. The
Employee of the Year title
was earned first bv Cornelius
being an Employee of the
Month, and then he was
voted on by his peers to
receive this honor.
Cornelius is an orthopae
dic technician, specializing
in casting and splinting,
including application and
removal.
According to a release,
he is especially good when
working with children.
“He has a way of comfort
ing them and making a bro
ken bone a little less trau
matic,” the release reads.
He has received many cards,
drawings and phone calls
from the children after their
experience thanking him for
taking care of them.
“I love my work and it just
comes natural to be pleas
ant and positive,” he said.
“It takes no special effort
on my part. I feel that team
work makes Middle Georgia
Orthopaedic successful.”
Cornelius also goes above
and beyond the call of duty
and helps the other employ
ees when needed, whether it
is his job or not.
“He never has a bad day
and never complains and is
genuinely concerned about
each patient he works with,”
the release reads.

■ REPUBLICAN
MEETING -The Houston
County Republican Party
will hold its annual mass
meeting Saturday at the Ted
Wright Park Activity Center
located at 2841 Moody Rd.,
in Bonaire. Registration
will be from 9-10 a.m. with
the doors closing at 10 a.m.

Saturday breakfast meeting
due to the meeting. Other

■ CRISIS
VOLUNTEERS - Hodac is
looking for volunteers to pro
vide “crisis intervention” to
sexual assault and domestic
violence victims of Houston
County. Volunteers must
be 18 years of age or older,
have reliable transportation
and the desire to make a
positive impact on their com
munity. Training dates will
be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. For more information,
call Hodac at 953-5675.
For this honor, Cornelius
received a plaque and his
own parking spot for a year,
as well as a lot of thanks
from his fellow employees.
He and his wife Belinda
have four daughters. One
daughter, Arlethia, also
works at Middle Georgia
Orthopaedic Surgery and
Sports Medicine when
she is home from school.
Middle Georgia Orthopaedic

Mid South Donates $3,000 to MSC

State College Foundation,
accepted a $3,000 check -
a donation from Mid South
Federal Credit Union
and President and CEO,
Claude Garrett, Jan. 16.
According to a release,
Mid South Federal Credit
Union presented the
donation to the MSC
Foundation in support of
Macon State’s “continued
growth and development
in Middle Georgia.”
Founded as Bibb
Teachers Federal Credit
Union, Mid South con
tinues to support educa
tion in middle Georgia
within the communities’
school systems. The MSC
Foundation is a nonprofit
organization established
in 1969 to raise and man
age private dollars in
support of Macon State
College.
Mid South Federal
Credit Union now has six
branches to serve the mid
dle Georgia community.
