Church on Saturday as the
parishioners crowded into
their new church for the
first time and took part in a
dedication filled with tradi

even one prolonged standing

The ovation was for Father
Fred J. Nijem, Pastor of
Sacred Heart, who has led
the congregation to this new
stage in its journey of faith.
J. Kevin Boland, Bishop
of the Savannah Diocese,
who led the celebration
conducted in both English

new structure “one of the
most beautiful buildings in
Warner Robins, Georgia,
and one of the most beau

Savannah Diocese.”
The contemporary, light
filled structure is built with
wide arches of laminated
pine. Its clear glass windows
will soon be replaced with
stained glass representations
of 20 saints of the church,

By RAY LIGHTNER
Journal Staff Writer
You can pull a fire truck or show off your
car to help Special Olympics Georgia.
The Second Annual Fire Truck Pull and
the Annual Perry Police Department Special
Olympics Car Show are Saturday at Hamby
Chevrolet.
“I have received more phone calls than
we ever had before. This will be our biggest
car show ever,” Perry Police Officer Keith
Kindle, Law Enforcement Torch Run Route
Director for Special Olympics Georgia, said.
If you want to pre-register for the Perry
Police Special Olympics Car Show call Kindle
at 808-9861.
If you have a team for the truck pull,
Kindle is the point of contact, also. That
event is the same day and starts at 11 a.m.
“If you would like to donate a door prize
give us a call, too,” Kindle said.
The fire truck pull is open to teams from
the entire community. Prizes are awarded to
the top three teams.
Fire truck pull teams consist of 10 people
with additional alternates, Kindle explained.
