By RAYLIGHTNER
Journal Staff Writer
Warner Robins Supply is
the oldest family owned and
operated business in Warner
Robins.
It began 60 years ago when
Ed and Vera Bayer founded
Warner Robins Supply on
First Street. They moved
the store to sixth Street in

Manager Gary McDuffie,
and in 1974 out to the pres

Boulevard.
“It was farmland then on a
two-lane highway,” McDuffie
said. “People thought he
was crazy, but apparently he
knew more than anyone else
did. He had the foresight to

The Sixth Street location

Daylight savings

Insurance and Safety
Fire Commissioner John W.
Oxendine wants to remind
Georgians that they must
change their clocks to day
light saving time earlier
this year - and they should
also change the batteries in
their smoke alarms at the
same time.
Oxendine said the annu
al change from standard
time to daylight saving
time, whenever it occurs,
is a good time to make sure
your smoke alarm is work
ing as it should.
“Every year in Georgia
there are fire fatalities in
homes that didn’t have

The Georgia Department
of Transportation is look

Each year, state transpor

“This year we want to
offer all citizens the oppor
tunity to participate in
the map design process,”
said State Transportation
Board Chair Mike Evans.
The contest is open to all
Georgia residents and will
run from March 1 through
April 13. Following are
some of the requirements

because of dead batter

have a smoke alarm, make
sure it’s in working order.
Changing the battery at
least once every year and
cleaning dust from the
device are easy ways to
ensure continued protec
tion of your family and your
property. Having a working
smoke alarm doubles the
chances you will survive a
fire in your home.”
The change in daylight
saving time is part of the
Energy Policy Act of 2005.
This year for the first time,
in Canada as well as the
U.S., daylight saving time
begins Sunday, March 11 at
2 a.m., when clocks are set
ahead cme hour.

location of the area or
attraction in the photo, not
the residence of the pho

■ All photos should be
submitted to the Georgia
DOT website www.dot.
state.ga.us;
■ Photos must be sub
mitted online by April 13;
■ Only one photo per
entrant;
■ Georgia DOT will not
pay for the rights to use
the photo; however, the
map will list the names

In July the State
Transportation Board will
select the 13 photos to

state transportation map.
Winners will be notified in
writing by Aug. 30.
