Houston Healthcare will host
Nursing Expo 2007. a career fair
for nursing students and nursing
professionals to learn more about
opportunities available through
Houston Healthcare.
The expo will be held today from
3-8 p.m. at the Houston Wellness
Center located inside the Houston
Mall in Warner Robins.

Finalists to take center stage April 14

The competition was fierce and the
talent impressed the judges, but after
two nights of auditions with 68 local
singers trying out, the judges for the
Perry Idol competition narrowed the
field down to just 20, who will take to
the outdoor stage April 14. The grand
prize will be a recording studio pack

CASA of Houston County
is holding a fund-raiser
Friday.
CASA is Court Appointed
Special Advocates for
Children, which organizes,
trains and supervises vol
unteer citizens from the
community to speak up
and advocate for abused
and neglected children in
Houston County.
That work is done by vol
unteers, said Terry Di Diego,
the executive director of
CASA of Houston County,
Inc. “Our organization is
always looking for new vol
unteers and ways to edu
cate the community,” she
said. She added there are 32
active volunteers, and last
year they served 84 children
in Houston County.
“The volunteers are
advocates for the child,” Di
Diego said. “They speak up
for them in court to make

around since 1991 and is
affiliated with the state and
national CASA.
It provides trained vol
unteers to visit with the
children in foster chare and
those involved in the case.
The benefit is to raise
money to pay for additional
training for the volunteer
advocates outside of the
county from the state and
national organizations.
The fund-raiser, “CASA
Presents an Evening of
Jazz,” is 7:30 p.m. Friday
at the Wellston Center, 155
Maple St., Warner Robins,

advance and include dinner
and a silent auction.
