Steve Morgan Cabinets and
Construction was destroyed
by a fire Sunday night.
Houston County Chief
Investigator Bill Smith said
the 4,000 square foot build
ing at 3601 Moody Road was
a total loss. He said the fire,
at about 10 p.m. Sunday was
visible from Ga. 247 to the
east and Peach Blossom and
Ga. 96 to the west.
“It was fully involved
before the fire department
was called in,” Smith said
“When it was discovered it
had already breached the
roof, with flames shooting as
high as the power lines.”
Smoke was detected about
an hour before the fire was
called in, Smith said, but
was dismissed by a neigh
bor, who thought it was just
someone burning leaves.
He said it took firefighters
with three engines about an
hour to get the fire under
control. The fire was con
tained to the building and
a box trailer parked about a
foot from the building.
Smith said no one was
inside the building, but a
couple of firefighters sus
tained minor injuries. “I
think everyone is back to
work,” he offered in that
regard.
