Perry HS to host
baseball camp
Perry High School will play
host for a baseball camp for youth
ages 7-12 June 11-14.
The camp will be taught by
Perry Panther Head Baseball
Coach, Shawn Masters, and his
staff. Campers, according to a
release, will be instructed on the
fundamentals and skills in base
ball. The camp is slated to run
from 9 a.m.-noon each day. The
cost is $75, which includes an
event T-shirt. Lunch and drinks
will also be provided. Contact

Houston County HS to
hold cheer clinic
Houston County High School
will hold a cheer clinic for children
K-6 June 28-29 (in the multi-pur
pose room).
The cost is $45 or $55 after
June 19, which includes snacks,
drinks and an event T-shirt.
The clinic is set to run daily
from 9 a.m.-noon. According to a
release, the agenda will include:
“Skill development in cheers,
chants, dance and stunting taught
by HoCo cheerleaders."

soccer camp
Perry High School Head Soccer
Coach Sam Said, his coaching
staff and team will host a Youth
Soccer Camp June 21-22 from 8
a.m.-noon daily. The fee is $35
with lunch provided and event T
shirt included with pre-registration.
Both boys and girls in age groups
ÜB-Ul4 are welcome to attend.

GDOE seeks input
on grad changes

The Georgia Department
of Education is seeking
input on revisions to the
state’s Graduation Rule
and will hold a first round
of public vetting opportu
nities over the next three
weeks.
“We are excited to receive
input from our educators,
parents, students, busi
ness leaders and the com
munity at large,” State
Superintendent of Schools
Kathy Cox said. “This rule
is a very important part
of making sure our stu
dents are college and work
ready when they leave high
school.”
The Graduation Rule
establishes the minimum
academic requirements
a student must meet in
order to graduate from a
Georgia public high school.
According to a release, a
new Graduation Rule is
needed to align with the
state’s revised and improved
curriculum, the Georgia
Performance Standards.
The new rule will be con
sidered for approval by the
State Board of Education
later this year and will go
into effect for the fresh
man class of the 2008-2009
school year.
The first draft of the
Graduation Rule was cre
ated by a committee com
prised of representatives
from local school districts,
GaDOE, the University
System of Georgia, the
Department of Adult and

Lee Greenwood for a scheduled performance at its 24th
Annual Independence Day Celebration, July 3, at 7 p.m.
at the McConnell-Talbert Stadium on South Davis Drive
in Warner Robins.
The Air Force Reserve Command celebrates our nation’s
birthday along with the 60th Anniversary of the United
