Dodgers demolish Lugnuts in Mid Ga MABL playoff
By MATTHEW BROWN

Another night of first-round action
in the Middle Georgia Men’s Adult
Baseball League playoffs ended in a
runaway win for one of the top con
tenders for the 2007 championship.
The No. 3-seeded Dodgers crushed
the No. 6 Lugnuts 27-1 in six innings
Thursday at the Bibb County Sports
Complex in Macon. The night before,
the Eagles, No. 2 seed, cruised over
the Angels in five innings 23-2.

tie it back up - or even win

the bottom of the inning.

Clark, Myers begin
bids for world titles
By DON MONCRIEF
Journal Sports Editor
If Rick Thompson and Buddy Ayer had one piece
of advice for fellow Perry Horseshoe Pitcher’s Club
member Larry Myers, it would be: Don’t start your
bid at a world title at the World Horseshoe Pitching
Championships off by going 2-3.
Alas, that’s exactly what he did Wednesday in his
first day of the tourney, which began Monday and runs
through Aug. 4 at Ardmore, Okla.
Myers’ effort, with two days of pitching left for him
- five games each day - put him in eighth place. He has
56 ringers out of 200 for a ringer percentage 28.
Ray Welsh of Ohio currently leads the division Myers
is in, the Dl, with a record of 4-1.
So, 2-3: Not so good. Going 3-2, however: Much better.
That’s the mark Dane Clark reached on his first day of
competition. He also had 56 ringers out of 200 for a 28
ringer percentage. And, he is also currently in eighth.
James Miller of Texas currently leads the division
Clark is contending in, the E 2. Miller is 5-0.
Also of note, Georgia does have one world champion
to its name to date. He is Zane Goggin from Ringgold.
He won the Mens HI Division with a record of 11.5-
3.5.
And finally, on a sad note, according to the Perry
Horseshoe Pitcher’s website, Doyle “Shorty” Johnson
had to withdraw from the tournament due to illness.
“Please keep him in your prayers,” Perry’s site
reads.

one there are things more

added that the manager of
the 12-and-under Warner
Robins team, Mickey Lay,
told him that was the proud
est moment he’s experienced
with the program.
“They jumped right in,”
said Jones of the nurses.
“That spoke volumes for our
