Local church holds ribbon cutting, dedication Special to the Journal The Warner Robins Area Chamber of Commerce, according to a release, host ed a ribbon Cutting ceremo ny for the First Assembly of Clod’s Loving Care Daycare Center addition July 26. The church is located at 6040 Watson Blvd., 247 Connector in Warner Robins. Loving Care Daycare Center opened in 2000 pro viding daycare for 97 chil dren within six age-defined classrooms under the direc tion of 21 full and part time teachers and assistants. According to the release, growth of First Assembly’s Youth Ministry and increased demand for daycare in the community prompted a Fall 2004 decision of the Official Elwood Waites will be relo cating his insurance busi ness on Washington Street to 1211 Macon Road, Suite B, Perry in a few weeks. Waites, whose current Washington Street location was in the news recently and is slated for destruc tion, wants his custom ers to know that he is not going out of business, and signs will be posted direct ing customers to his new location once he makes the move. JoumaJ/Charlotta Perkin* Ribbon cutting Board of First Assembly to construct an additional building on the church cam pus to house a Youth Chapel and an addition to Loving Care Daycare Center. Committed sacrificial giv ing from the congregation of First Assembly has funded the First Assembly Annex Building, which now hous es the Youth Chapel that opened in October 2005, the release reads. The addition to Loving Care, according to the release, will provide for excellent care and children’s ministry as many as 166 children daily on the First Assembly campus. “We want people to know that we really do care about the youths who attend Loving Care,” said Church Administrator and Chairman New location I —7 * -v WF ' of the Loving Care Board of Directors, Richard Azbell. “We are not here to just baby-sit, but rather to guide and instill values in the lives of the children.” Rev. Roger Brumbalow, Superintendent of the Georgia District of the Assemblies of God, shared remarks concerning the new addition and was proud to be* apart of the growing work at First Assembly. Members of the Loving Care Board welcomed guests to tour the new facility following the ribbon cutting ceremony. LOCAL Jackson named to Kia position Special to the Journal According to a release, Kia Motor Manufacturing Georgia Inc. has cho sen a Georgia native and a veteran of the automo tive industry as its direc tor of human resources. Kia officials named J. Randy Jackson Director of Human Resources effective July 16. Prior to joining Kia, Jackson, whose sister, Delbra Hayes and her fam ily reside in Perry, was employed in senior human resources management by Mercedes Benz USA and International Inc. in Vance, Ala., where he helped sup port their recent expansion and growth. Before Mercedes, Jackson was with Toyota North America, located at their corporate office based in Erlanger, Ky. In that role, he was general manager of human resources and administration. At that time, he helped start up plants in West Virginia, Indiana, Mexico and Alabama, along with sev eral Toyota expansions in Canada and the U.S. In addition, he assisted many Toyota suppliers with their start-up needs. Prior to Toyota, Jackson was director of human resources for Alcan Aluminum, North America, and was based in Louisville, Ky. During that time, in 1992, Jackson led the proj ect to relocate new plants to LaGrange. While lead ing the project, he worked very closely with Jane Fryer at the LaGrange- Troup County Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Group and the Contributed Community Events ■ HCHS PARKING PERMITS - Houston County High School student parking permits, according to a release from the school, are now on sale. Permits are being sold, according to the release, on a first come first-serve basis in the attendance office. Permit sale hours on today and Thursday are 8 a.m.-noon. Additional purchases will be offered beginning Aug. 6 before and after school each day. According to the release, the following docu ments are required to pur chase a parking permit: Current vehicle registra tion card, proof of auto mobile insurance, current driver’s license of student driving the vehicle and $35 cash, or check/money order made payable to Houston County High School. To purchase a parking permit, the student may not have any unpaid fines. ■ HCHS FRESHMAN ORIENTATION - Houston County High School will host a freshman orientation Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Incoming fresh men and their parents, according to a release, are invited to attend the open house to receive important information on school rules and procedures. Also per the release, there will not be an open house for students in 10th through 12th grades. Currently, Fryer is the president of the Chamber. At that time, Jackson was very active in supporting growth at the Industrial Park. He assisted with attracting new industry to the area by sharing the positive experiences he had with Alcan in working with the development and the community. He was also involved with many other community activities dur ing that time in LaGrange. In the early part of his career, he was in human resources with Frito Lay Inc., based out of Dallas, Texas, and located at their Pulaski, Tenn., plant. Jackson started his career in human resources with Lawtex Industries Inc., based in Dalton after graduating college at the University of Georgia. During his career, Jackson has worked with many different cultures in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Japan. “I am now very excited and - Warner Robins High School, according to a release, will hold a drop-in orientation and two open houses. Students and their parents are encouraged to attend, the release reads. Jackson has been published in the National SHRM mag azine for Human Resources Professionals, and is rec ognized as a leader in his field around the country. He has coached, mentored and developed many other human resources profes sionals with their careers, and continues to make con tributions to the human resources field. In addition, has served on many labor law panels and projects with various law firms deal ing with the NLRB Board. Jackson is a native of and grew up in Jones County, just outside of Macon. His mother and father, Pauline and James Jackson, are cur rently retired in that area. Jackson is a 1975 graduate of Jonesco Academy, Gray. In addition, Jackson gradu ated from the University of Georgia with a degree in industrial psychology in 1979. He also received his MBA degree in business and cost management from Century University, and earned a JD degree in law from UCLA. Jackson also has his legal certification in Labor Law from the Institute of Applied Management and Law. He is married to Debbie McHan Jackson, from Dalton and they have two children, Jamey, 25, and Jennifer, 21. p.m. at the Galleria Mall, Centerville.
