2A ♦ THURSDAY, AUGUST 2, 2007 Community Events ■ HOMEOWNER SERVICE - Rebuilding Together, Warner Robins affiliate, is now accepting applications to repair and rehabilitate homes for low income elderly and disabled homeowners in Warner Robins. Qualifying hom eowners who are 62 years of age or older, or disabled homeowners can fill out the necessary application at the Warner Robins City Hall Community Development Office. Applications will be taken until Oct. 31. According to a release, all materials are provided free of charge for renovations and repairs. More informa tion may be obtained by calling * the Development Office at 929-1140 or going online at www.rebuildingto gether.org. ■ HCHS PARKING PERMITS - Houston County High School student parking permits, according to a release from the school, are now on sale. Permits are being sold, according to the release, on a first come first-serve basis in the attendance office. Permit sale hours on today are 8 a.m.-noon. Additional pur chases will be offered begin ning Aug. 6 before and after school each day. According to the release, the following documents are required to purchase a parking permit: Current vehicle registra tion card, proof of auto mobile insurance, current driver’s license of student driving the vehicle and $35 cash, or check/money order made payable to Houston County High School. To purchase a parking permit, the student may not have any unpaid fines. ■ HCHS FRESHMAN ORIENTATION - Houston County High School will host a freshman orientation today at 6:30 p.m. Incoming freshmen and their parents, accord ing to a release, are invited to attend the open house to receive important informa tion on school rules and procedures. Also per the release, there will not be an open house for students in 10th through 12th grades. To receive their schedules, sophomores, juniors and seniors should report to their connection teacher on the first day of classes, Aug. 6. ■ WRHS ORIENTATION - Warner Robins High School, accord ing to a release, will hold a drop-in orientation and two open houses. Students and their parents are encour aged to attend, the release reads. The drop-in orienta tion will be held today from 4-6 p.m. The open hous es will be held Aug. 21 at the main campus at 6 p.m. and Aug. 23 at the Rumble Academy at 6 p.m.Warner Robins High is located at 401 South Davis Drive in Warner Robins. Those interested in attend ing are asked to RSVP by 5 p.m., Aug. 7. According to a release, there will be no cancellations after that date. ■ WRHS MARCHING BAND FAMILY DAY - The Warner Robins High School band will hold a Family Day Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Demon Valley. The students, who according to a release, have been working very hard in preparation for the upcom ing school year, will per form for their parents dur ing that time. A good photo opportunity, per the release, would be from 10-11 a.m. ■ SCHOOL ELECTIONS - Parkwood Elementary School will hold a School Council election for parent members Aug. 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the cafete ria. Meetings for the 2007- OS school year have also been scheduled. Parkwood School Council meetings are held at 6 p.m. in the media center. The meeting dates are as follows: Aug. 30, Nov. 1, Feb. 7, 2008 and May 1, 2008. Parkwood Elementary is located at 503 Parkwood Drive in Warner Robins.
