The flashing lights which have been in operation for the last week will now be stop and go lights. Be prepared to come to a complete stop on U.S. 41. Housing authority boards to meet The Quarterly board meet of the Perry Housing Authority will be Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Perry Housing Authority Conference Room, 822 Perimeter Road, in Perry. The regular monthly board meet ing of the Warner Robins/Houston County Housing Authority will be Tuesday, Aug, 14 at 11:30 p.m. in the Warner Robins Housing Authority Conference Room, 112 Memorial Terrace, in Warner Robins. Douglas honored by professional agents Jennie Gayle Douglas was recently named the 2007 Company Representative of the year by the Professional Insurance Agents of Georgia . She received the honor at the organization's annual convention in Ponte Vedra, Fla. The daughter of Currey and Pat Gayle of Marietta, and the grand daughter to Joe and Connette Gayle of Perry, Douglas ia a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Insurance and Risk Management. She is an area sales director with Builder’s Insurance Group, the larg est writer of workers compensation in Georgia. Student population on the rise as 3 more schools open By CHARLOTTE PERKINS Journal Staff Writer Houston County’s public schools opened for the 2007-08 term on Monday. According to Beth McLaughlin, projec tions are that approximately 25,800 stu dents will be enrolled for this year, about 1,700 more than last year. Three new schools opened on Monday: Lake Joy Primary off Lake Joy Road, Hilltop Elementary off Moody Road and Mossy Creek Middle School on Danny Carpenter Drive off Sandefur Road. There are also more than 300 new teachers. There has been a change since last year in elementary school hours. The cards will be sent out to let voters know of polling place changes fol lowing the consolidation of some precincts, moving others and the creation of a new voting precinct at Mossy Creek Middle School. The changes are in part due to requests from the School Board to move some of the pre cincts out of the elemen tary schools, explained Election Supervisor JoAnn Shipes. Nathan Todd Wogan, 25, is being held with out bond in the Houston County Jail on charges of child molesta tion and sex ual battery of a 13-year-old. He also has a hold from the United States Air Force. Perry Public Safety Director George Potter said Thursday afternoon at about 5:30 p.m. a citizen flagged down an offi cer about suspicious activity at Calhoun Park. “The citizen told Officer (Bill) Hathcock he saw a man go into the woods with an adolescent girl,” Potter said. Hathcock radioed for assis tance and officers went into the woods and found them. The two were then taken back to the girl’s mother’s home. Journal, Charlotte Perkins WRPD seek suspects in 2 robberies By RAT LIGHTNER Journal Staff Writer Warner Robins Police are looking for suspects at two armed robberies over the week end. On Saturday at 10:21 a.m., officers responded to the 117 H Russell Pkwy., beauty sup ply store Cosmo-Prof concern ing an armed robbery. Officers learned the suspect entered the business brandishing a weapon and took a customer’s purse before turning on the clerk. The suspect reportedly demanded she hand over a bag containing change. She com plied and the suspect fled the business on foot in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a black male 20-35 years of age, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7 with a thin build.
