will hold a School Council
election Thursday at 6 p.m.
in the media center. Three
parent/business partner rep
resentatives will be elected.
The term of office is two
years with meetings held
quarterly. Interested parents
must be present on the night
of the election to be nomi
nated and selected. Bonaire

- The Westside Elementary

meeting will be held Sept. 6
at 4 p.m. in the conference

The 116th Medical Group
held an exercise Friday-
Sunday.
The exercise, according to
a release, dealt with respond
ing to Chemical, Biological,
Radiological, Nuclear, or
High Yield Explosive inci
dents and assisting local,
state and federal agencies
in conducting consequence
management by providing
capabilities to conduct per
sonnel decontamination,

Laurell completes training basic

ly completed U.S. Navy
basic training at Recruit
Training Command, Great
Lakes, 111.
During the eight-week
program, Laurell completed
a variety of training which
included classroom study
and practical instruction on
naval customs, first aid, fire
fighting, water safety and
survival, and shipboard and
aircraft safety. An emphasis
was also placed on physical
fitness.
The capstone event of boot
camp is “Battle Stations”.
This exercise, according
to a release, gives recruits
the skills and confidence
they need to succeed in the
fleet. “Battle Stations” is

The reason for the exer
cise, according to a release,
was to provide states with
a regional Task Force with
the capability to locate and
extract yictims from a con
taminated environment
and perform Mass Patient/
Casualty Decontamination
to support civil first respond
ers or military authorities.
The event consisted of
three main areas: Command
designed to galvanize the
basic warrior attributes of
sacrifice, dedication, team
work and endurance in each
recruit through the practi
cal application of basic Navy
skills and the core values of
honor, courage and commit
