Shirley Hills sets
council meetings
Shirley Hills Elementary School
has scheduled its School Council
meetings for the 2007-08 school
year. Meetings will be held at 7:30
a.m. in room 403. The meetings are
as follows: Sept. 20, Nov. 15, Feb.
28, 2008 and April 17, 2008.
Shirley Hills Elementary is

host blood drive
A Red Cross blood drive will be
hosted by at Feagin Mill Middle

Horse lovers, and beginner riders
too, can sign up now for a horse
manship workshop at Fort Valley
State University’s Equine Center on

side the outfield fence to see
the champions of the two
brackets battle for the title.

of flags of all 65 countries
where Little League base
ball is played plus all sixteen
campus from Sept. 4 - Dec. 4.
For more than a dozen classes,
workshop participants pay $5 to
take two-hour lessons on Tuesdays
from 6-8 p.m. Participants will be
taught how to guide horses in a clo
verleaf pattern around barrels and
weave them around poles. They
can also learn how to ride a horse
while it’s walking or trotting back
and fourth in an arena.
Families are encouraged to take
the two-hour sessions together.
Children as young as 3 years old
can participate. All children must be
accompanied by an adult.
There will be an informal horse
show at the end of the three
months where participants compete
in timed events that test lessons
they've learned. Awards will be
