Local agencies earn state honors Special to the Journal VNA of Cordele, Inc. with offices located in Americus, Cordele, Montezume and Warner Robins, has been selected as one of Georgia’s top three home health agen cies by the Georgia Medical Care Foundation and the Georgia Association for Home Health Agencies, Inc. VNA of Cordele Inc. was named as a finalist for the assocaition’s 2007 Vision Award from among agencies that have equaled of exceed ed the state' average in at least seven of 10 publicly reported quality measures. “Home health agencies in Georgia have done an excel lent job of improving the pub licly reported measure. We at GMCF have been priviledged to work with such a dedi cated group,” said Michelle Nelson, GMCF Home Health Project Coordinator. “The commitment for GMCF and GAHHA is to recognize agencies that have exemplified a visionary qual ity improvement program. GMCF strives to see that every per son recieves ‘“the right care every time.” GAHHA provides direc tion, purpose, education and leadership to these agancies, while peomoting and sup porting high industry stan dards for home care provid ers in Georgia. jMßltbatatlmeh LOCAL CoMMUNmr Events ■ FVSU HORSEMANSHIP COURSE - Horse lovers, and beginner riders too, can sign up now for a horse manship workshop at Fort Valley State University’s Equine Center on campus from Sept. 4 - Dec. 4. For more than a dozen classes, workshop participants pay $5 to take two-hour lessons on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. Participants will be taught how to guide horses in a cloverleaf pattern around barrels and weave them around poles. They can also learn how to ride a horse while it’s walking or trot ting back and fourth in an arena. Families are encour aged to take the two-hour sessions together. Children as young as 3 years old can participate. All chil dren must be accompanied by an adult. There will be an informal horse show at the end of the three months where participants compete in timed events that test lessons they’ve learned. Awards will be given.
