8 Rebound Hornets seek return to glory By MATTHEW BROWN Journal Snorts Writer How exactly does a school's football pro gram - one that is accustomed to winning more than half @f its games season after sea son - react to that one year that comes along where the win total amounts to a mere two? Westfield Schools had the chance to find that out the hard way this off-season. 2006 was a year to forget in Hornet football: two wins, seven losses, one tie and a list of key starters going down to injury that seemed to grow week after week. The ensuing winter and summer wasn’t a time for panic, though, or a complete rewrit ing of the game plans and workout regimens, not with a 30-yearplus coaching veteran in charge with about half of his career spent on the Perry campus. “I was real proud of the kids this summer,” said Westfield head coach Ronnie Jones. “I think there was 35 days possible and 99 per cent of our kids made the number of times we asked them to come. We had some that went over and beyond that. “We did a lot of stuff in the weight room and a few things outside.
