HOUSTON DAILY JOURNAL BRIDGE From page iA speaks from knowledge.” Owens said “Eddie could have just stayed in the back ground, but I know Robins Air Force Base, and Warner Robins are far better because you didn’t.” State Sen. Ross Tolleson, R-Perry, who introduced the legislation in to have the bridge named for Wiggins, said “Eddie was working hard to build bridges and I’m proud to have you as Middle Georgia’s Mr. Air Force Base.” Tolleson said Wiggins had asked where his bridge was. “I told him it took me a long time to pay folks to show up,” the senator joked. “We pushed hard for this, but it was a lot easier,” Tolleson said, “since Eddie is known across the state as Mr. Air Force.” Mayor Donald Walker thanked the 21st Century Partnership, “that’s who I’m looking at,” he told those gathered, “that made this an extraordinary place to live.” Walker said Wiggins “is a leader, a seer. His efforts for this community are why Middle Georgia and Warner Robins is the home of cham pions - state champion foot ball team, world champion Little League team. Eddie has been our leader, our champion at the 21st Century Partnership.” Walker said of Wiggins, “I don’t think he had a choice. He was bom into this. You’re daddy would be very proud of you today.” Walker said the bridge naming “is a small token of what you’ve done for this community. Eddie, God bless you and God bless America.” Wiggins joked about the bridge. “Donald and I were talking, trying to figure out where we could put a toll road. I’d take half, he’d take half, but then he’d annex it and I get noth ing.” Wiggins said his time with the Partnership, “was a little different than I expected.
