Congress honors WRALL
Special to the Journal
Congressman Jim Marshall announced
that the U.S. House of Representatives
passed House Resolution 630, congratulat
ing the Warner Robins Little League Team
on winning the 2007 Little League World
Series Championship.
Introduced Sept. 4 by Marshall, all 13
members of Georgia’s House delegation
sponsored the resolution, which eventually
garnered 55 cosponsors. It was passed by
voice vote. A portion of the text follows:
“Whereas on Sunday, August 26, 2007, the

from Warner Robins, Georgia, defeated the
Tokyo Kitasuna Little League Team by a
score of 3-2 to win the 2007 Little League
World Series Championship at Williamsport,
Pennsylvania; Whereas although Warner
Robins had taken one loss in the series,
they did not give up, and the Warner Robins
team battled back from behind to win the

its occasional missteps the
system works. The majority
of accused that are guilty
plead guilty. The majority of
weak cases are dismissed by
prosecutors. The remaining
cases are those where the
government truly believes
it has a good case and the
accused adamantly denies
guilt.
When this occurs the cor

properly fulfill their respec

every case they do. Jury tri

isn’t a perfect system but

Perry police officers and fire

Georgia State Patrol were all
on hand and were apparently
needed for crowd control as
well as helping with the bull.
Ellison, the bull’s handler,
arrived on the scene and it
was decided that he would
get the trailer and bring it to
the bull. Once the trailer was
in place about 10 feet from
the place where the strug

and several officers, includ

ing to pull the ill-tempered
animal into the trailer.

Det. Sgt. Chris Sutcliff and
Capt. Bill Phelps were on
the scene as were a number
of other officers and Chief
Stephen Shimp of Fairground
Security. According to
Sutcliff, they were trying to
“funnel” the bull into the
trailer by slowly closing the
trailer’s gate on him, when
the bull spun around and
headed straight toward
Sellers, who had to “jump up
on the trailer to keep from
getting crushed between the
bull and the metal trailer.”
The bull was loose again,
heading toward the McGill
building.
Sutcliff, who had already
been told by Capt. Bill Phelps
to shoot the bull if he started
charging into the crowd, took
careful aim with the safe
backdrop of the metal trailer
and shot the bull twice. The
bull kept on going. Shimp
also ordered the bull shot to
protect the people.

other bystanders joined in.
Lt. James Buck, Sellers and

A few minutes later, the

At 10 p.m. Ellison finally

news was that nobody at the
