Monthly evaluations
include blood pressure,
weight, blood sugar (if
diabetic) performed by a
registered nurse. Incentive
awards will be given after
completing 100 miles, 500
miles, 1000 miles and up
to 2000 miles. Quarterly
free dinners for all walking
participants and guests.
Cost is S3O per person,
includes free pedometer.

Diabetes Exercise
Program
An exercise program
specifically for adults with
diabetes who would like
to learn more about the
correct times and methods
for exercising in relation to
diet and medication. The
program is administered
by a team of nurses, exer
cise physiologists and a
certified diabetes educator.
A dietitian is also available
for one-on-one consul
tations with each par
ticipant. Location: Health
Connections Cardiac/
Pulmonary Rehabilitation,

Childbirth Education
Ongoing - A series of
childbirth education class
es. The cost is covered
by many insurance plans,
including Medicaid. Other
classes include breast
feeding, early pregnancy,
big brother/big sibling. Call

The ICA will also be able to
admit patients directly from
the Emergency Department
and physician offices as long
as certaih criteria are met.
“By admitting patients to
the ICA, we will be able to
relieve some stress on the
Emergency Department and
place the patients in beds
instead of having them wait
for any extended amount of
time in the ED,” explains
Kubia.
Surgery patients will also
be able to utilize the new
unit as needed, she adds.
