She is also taking AP courses and
hoping to graduate and maintain
excellent grades, Bradley said. She
is involved in other extracurricular

Coach's Corner: “Her leadership
helped an almost completely novice
volleyball team gel and make great
strides, though not in terms of win
ning. Without her leadership, quite
and focused, we wouldn't have
accomplished nearly what we did.”

Sarah Rizer

“Sarah’s height and natural abil

Jones.
Coach s Corner: “Sarah was forced
into the fold as a result of injury. The
day after Cat was hurt we played at
the AM Spike Fest Invitational. In
the huddle when I announced Sarah
was starting, I will never forget the
look she gave me. To watch her

going to be a dominant player over
the next couple of years!”

WR teams notch second-straight top 20 finish
Special to the Journal
The Warner Robins Cross country teams
both finished in the top 20 for the second
straight year the week of Nov. 10, marking
a first for them, said Head Coach David
Erpelding. “The boys ran faster this year
than last year but as we got better so
did everyone else,” he said, adding that
Caroline Mauldin, who finished 15th with
a time of 19:59, was the first freshman girl
to finish in the top 20 at the state meet in
Houston County - as far as he knew.
Karl Burkhardt broke the Warner Robins
record set back in 2000.
“It was a great season for both teams,”
Erpelding said, “and it is something they

The 2007 Houston County Cross Country championship event headed by Warner
Robins High School Cross Country Coach David Erpelding and sponsored by the
Warner Robins Noon Optimist Club since 1996 was held Oct. 16 at Pearl Stephens
Elementary School. The club, according to a release, provides individual plaques,
medals and T-Shirts to winning boys and girls team members and school trophies to
winning schools. Club President Rodney Wilson and Club Project Officer Jim Baldwin
presented the top individual awards and school trophies at a regular club meeting
on Nov. 8. The winner in the boys category was Karl Burkhardt from WRHS and in
the girls category was Megan Breitbach from Houston County High School. Each
received a Runner of the Year award - a first place medal on a plaque stating that
the individual was the runner of the year, along with his or her winning time. WRHS
won both the boys and girls “team” category. Erpelding accepted the school trophies.

Coach's Corner: "Athina was new
to the program this year and after
a short adjustment period became
a solid offensive contributor. Now
that she has been in our system

wait to see what she can do next
year! Having her and Devon as
outside hitters will be a potent one
two attack!"

All-County Second Team and was
a 2005 HHJ All-County Honorable

Coach's Corner:" Dhwani has been
a rock solid contributor to the team

Katie is also an excellent defensive
passer.”
Other: Earned the Best Setter
Award in 2006.
Coach's Corner: “Katie is a very
talented volleyball player with a lot
of potential. She works hard and is
a great asset to have. Katie played
front and back row for us. She
played at the setter position while
also being one of the better hitters
on the team. A very versatile, all

Deanna Drain
