Thanksgiving lives in the hearts of believers
One day on the calendar is des
ignated as Thanksgiving Day.
We know what the day is all
about. Pilgrims landing, feasting on
turkey, acknowledging God’s bountiful
goodness.
If you want to reflect on the history
of the annual celebration, the internet
has a wealth of information. If internet
is not available, books are available in
public libraries. Resource materials
can be found in almost any bookstore.
According to one internet resource,
the pilgrims left England in search of
religious freedom, or to find a better
way of life. Fortunately, their search
was successful. Thus, “Thanksgiving
Day.”

were transported to another cemetery,
the supervisor in charge of the exhuma

the container.
The lady related, “The only things I saw
inside the container were my mother’s
hair, a few of her teeth, and the rest
was a powdery substance that looked like
decayed bones.
“Apparently all her flesh and bones had
been reduced to dust over the five decades
since she was buried.”
During the early days, they did not always
use embalming fluid which preserves the
body for long periods. Embalming with
formaldehyde is the current prescribed
mortuaiy method.
As far back as the ancient Egyptians,
people used oils, herbs, and special body
preparations to help preserve the bodies of
their dead.
Yet no process or products have been
devised to preserve a body in the grave
indefinitely. Consequently, embalmed bod
ies begin a slow but gradual decomposition
process and over thousands of years will be
reduced to dust.
King Tut, the youngest and most famous
Pharaoh to rule Egypt, was buried over
3000 years ago. Recently, the 19-year-olds’
body was removed from its protective sar-

goodness of God.
We have our religious freedom. It
grants us freedom from fear of reading
our Bibles and worshipping the God
who makes it possible for us to acknowl
edge everyday as “Thanksgiving Day.”
Not all days are bright and sunny. The
unexpected sometimes brings situa
tions that are difficult to handle.
For words of encouragement on such
days, turn to Proverbs 3: 5 -6: “Trust
in the Lord with all you heart, lean not
on your own understanding; In all your
ways acknowledge Him, And He shall
direct your paths.”
From my heart to yours: happy
Thanksgiving every day!
Christ’s love.’ This is an
excellent way for us to have
fellowship with our fellow
residents at this time when
we celebrate the birth of
Jesus.”

The removal caused the mummy’s brittle
body to break into 18 parts; however, Tut’s
face remained intact. Removal of Tut’s

because the constant heat and humidify

would have reduced the mummy to a pow

From dust we came and unto dust we

radical transformation.

every one of us will die, but we will all be

than the blink of an eye. At the sound of
the last trumpet the dead will be raised. We
will all be changed, so that we will never

will be changed into bodies that won’t die

“The bodies we now have are weak and
can die. But they will be changed into bod
