The basketball Lady
Hornets of Westfield are no
longer a team only com
prised of freshmen and
sophomores. Now, it’s a
team only comprised of
sophomores and juniors.
Yes, everybody’s advanced
one grade level at Westfield,
but coach Jeff Eubanks is
still looking at his current
group as a young basketball
team.
“Again, we’re not very
tall,” said Eubanks. “But we
have gained, a lot of experi
ence and got a little more
confidence by finishing up
good last year.”
There was no better
springboard from one sea
son to another for a young
team that a major upset
win. Westfield’s girls got
that win as the fourth-place
seed from its region in the
GISA state tournament.

Perry High School student-athletes know what it’s
like to play an important athletic contest with a col
lective heavy heart.
Back in May, the Panther baseball club made a trip to
Troup High School for what was a third
and deciding game of a state playoff series.
This trip, however, was on the heels of the
sad news of the passing of a beloved class
mate.
A similar story played itself out at the
end of last week’s holiday festivities. I was
not aware of it at the time, but the Worth
