I love the Perry Volunteer

Joan Dorsett is one of the con

The Perry Chamber board
met Friday morning at the
Phoenix Center for a board
training seminar. Daniel
Brown, the new chamber
president, Michael Chambers,
Kenna Scragg, Rob Brooks
and Matt Marshall probably
would have taken the best
sport awards if one were
given. The training exercises
were done as a group, but
put everyone in very com
promising positions.... Lots of
laughs were shared, but it was
a great opportunity for the
new board to get to know one
another. Looks like it is going
to be a very promising year
for the Perry Chamber.
Happy Birthday to Ed. He
is our Fed Ex Guy in town.
He travels through a lot to get
our packages to us on time.
‘ Thanks Ed.

Me and the boys
at the playground
With the cold and dreary
weather we’ve been having
this winter, I’m sure that
mothers of young children
are thankful for the indoor
playgrounds that are in
fast food restaurants these
days. When my boys were
small, we practically lived
at those restaurants.

the boys running in to the
street or burning some

I did pat them down for
illegal contraband before
we entered the restaurant,
though.
Even though I was relaxed
when the boys played in the
playground, unfortunately
it was not so for the moth
ers of the other children
playing there.
The boys weren’t vicious
or mean to other children,
but they were certainly
active and played extreme
ly rough.
When other children
were calmly sliding down
the slide, my boys were
commandeering the food
trays from the restaurant
and using them to sit on
while sliding, since it made
them go much faster.
Wow, they could fly when
they sat on those little
trays, until the manager
politely told them that the
trays were off limits.
Oh well, you can’t blame
them for trying.
When some mothers saw
us coming into the play
ground, they would run
and gather their children
around them like mother
hens who had just noticed
that the fox was hanging
out in the chicken yard.
There have even been
some mothers who were
worried that their children
were going to get hurt and
actually left the playground
in fear.

Mike Huckabee's wife, Janet,

despite being told she might
lered after them saying,
“Hey, can I go with you?
They scare me too!”
One memorable day, I
had taken the boys to eat
lunch and play in the play
ground after preschool.
They were three years
old and were quite small
for their age. There were
some other boys playing
that day that were the same
age of them. The other
boys thought my boys were
younger than they were
and called them babies.
Well, this didn’t set too
well with the boys. Being
as rough and tumble as
they were, they were quite
insulted that someone
would refer to them as
babies.
They played with these
boys until it was time to go
home. I finally rounded all
of my boys up, which can
be quite a job, let me tell
you.
Well, we were ready to go
and Luke was the last one
to the door.
I noticed that he was
hanging back to be the last
one to leave. He opened
the door and called out to
the other boys, “Bye!”
I thought, “Now, that
was sweet of him to say
goodbye to his new little
friends.” Well, I thought
too soon because he hesi
tated a second, yelled at
the top of his lungs, “butt
holes!” and then ran to the
van as fast as his plump
little legs would carry him.
I was left holding the
door with my mouth hang
ing open.
Obviously, he wanted
to get the last word in to
the boys who referred to
him and his brothers as
“babies”.
So, you can call my boys
anything you like, but just
remember, they don’t for
get and they will have the
last word, even if they run
like heck afterwards.

That tricky moon
question
Mike Stanley's answer was to
the point: "From here (Earth), we
can never see the Moon as it is
because; one, it is 250 thousand
miles away and it takes light a
little over a second to get here
from there, and two, the Moon
rotates on it axis at the same
rate it revolves around the Earth,
never showing its "dark" side to
us."
I'm allowing some leeway with
this answer because the question
was a bit weirdly worded. Getting
it right - either in terms of the
speed of light delay or in terms
of the side we never see, were
Mike, Larry and Chris Thomson,
Rhonda Parrish, Laurie Jones,
Jaloo Zelonis, Olivia Stachorek,
Bill Harrison and Nancy Braswell.
