OBITUARIES
Wade C. Simpson
WARNER ROBINS - Wade
Simpson, 82, entered into rest
on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008.
Mr. Simpson was born on
March 29, 1925 in Summit,
Alabama. He served his coun-
try in the Navy during World
War II and retired from Robins Air Force Base as a Civil Service sheet metal inspector. Family
includes his loving wife, Mahila “Jo" Simpson, Warner Robins; children, Ken Simpson (Glenda),
Warner Robins, Lynn Stephens (Cliff), Warner Robins and Shelia Howell (Jack), Suffolk, Virginia;
sister, Almeda Smith, Winder, Georgia. *
Winnie P. McCormick
HAYNESVILLE - Winnie P. McCormick, 91, passed away in Cochran on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Haynesville Assembly of God Church with interment in

the Haynesville Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her son, Wayne McCormick (Mary Jim)
of Eastman; two grandchildren, Andy McCormick (Vicki) and Rosemary Roland (Donnie), both of
Eastman; three great grandchildren, Christopher Lee McCormick, Andrew Michael McCormick, and
James Ray Roland; number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband,

Monterey Hart Miller
Monterey Hart Miller, infant daughter of Suzanne K. Miller and Kevin Saunders, died on Sunday,
Feb. 24, 2008. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home.

BOE set to begin 'Be There' Campaign

of Education will officially
launch a parent involvement
campaign, Be There, Friday
at 1:30 p.m.
The event will be held at
Northside Middle School. Be
There, according to a BOE
news release, is a researched
based, multimedia campaign
designed to encourage par
ents to connect with their
children every day through
simple yet quality interac
tion.
Superintendent of Schools
David Carpenter will begin
the campaign and display
the campaign posters for
schools and Admobile bill
boards which will be seen
throughout the community.

Westside Elementary School
and Tawanna Stokes from
Northside Middle will be at
the event to share their Be
There experiences.
Moode is president of the
Westside Elementary PTO.
She has become a confident
mother through her involve
ment in her children’s edu
cation.

Mrs. McCormick was the daughter of the late Andrew and Letha (Henson)
Parker and had lived most of her life in Haynesville before moving to
Eastman in 1994. She was retired from Civil Service and was a member of
Survivors other than her parents are siblings, Madison Miller, Hunter Miller
and Meggie Miller,.all of Elko; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Melinda
Kicklighter of Elko, paternal grandparents, Dwight Saunders of Warner
Robins and Phyllis Saunders of Columbus. Please sign the online register
