fun to scare me too. One
day, many years ago, he told
me about a snake that he
had seen on the road that
day. Later in the evening, I
was taking a long leisurely
bath (this was before chil
dren when I had time to
take a bath). He came into
the bathroom and said from
behind the shower curtain,
“Remember that snake I told
you about today”? Then, all
of a sudden, he tossed some
thing into the water. It was
long and black and I went
crazy. I tried to get out of
the tub, and when I stood up,
the thing came toward me. I
almost tore down the shower
curtain trying to get out of
there. He was laughing so
hard that he couldn’t talk,
and I was furious. The thing

just a rubber snake, but it
surely looked real to me. He
told me later that the second
he threw the “snake” into the
water, he knew he had messed
up, but it was too late at that
point to turn back. Now you
know where the boys get their
warped “sense of humor”.
I’m sure that I also make a
great target for their jokes
because my mind is already
occupied with a million things
that I need to do that day, and
the last thing on my mind is
how I may be scared sense
less, which shouldn’t worry
me too terribly, because I’m
already at least halfway there
by now.
