Police: It was murder-suicide
By KRYSTAL RtNER
Journal Staff Writer
Monday morning the Houston County Sheriffs office
responded to a call at about 10:40 a.m. in reference to two
persons down at 308 George Francis Court.
According to Sgt. A 1 Elvins, with the sheriffs office after
arriving on scene they discovered that there were two
deceased people at the resident. Edmund Rowe, 43, and
Allison Rowe, 35, both had been shot.
“After the autopsy reports came back it was determined
that this was a murder-suicide,” said Elvins Tuesday.
Edmund Rowe was the shooter, according to Elvins.
According to Elvins, the wife’s step-father went to check
on the couple after they didn’t drop their puppy off at his
house before going to work.

Forgotten schoolhouse
gets a second chance

Journal Staff Writer-
If you’ve never heard of
Spring Hill School, that’s no
surprise, because it closed
its doors as a school some
time in the early 19205, just
about 15 years after it was
built by the Perry Board of
Education.
You’ve probably seen it
many times, though without
realizing that it was ever a
school at all.
Records from 1915 gave
it a value of S7OO, with one
classroom and outdoor toi

For a brief time, however,
this little school was filled
with children. In 1915, it
had one teacher, Miss Laura
Talton, who was responsible
for 28 pupils in six grades.
The building was later reno
vated inside to have four
classrooms.
The old records describe
it has having “good home
made double desks, medium
blackboard, one U.S. History
map, good charts, no blob;
reference dictionary, framed
pictures, library in good
case, small decorative flags,
illustrative materials, water
from a nearby neighbor’s
well, and a covered cooler
with individual ups.
According to research by
Ellie Loudermilk, an expert
of the history of local build-

Horace Woodruff s parents,
