7/ie Bus/ness Development Committee of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce
recently announced that State Farm Insurance - Tommy Storey is the November
2008 Small Business of the Month. State Farm Insurance has been a member of
the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce since 2000. The award makes the organiza
tidn eligible for the 2008 Small Business of the Year.

held its annual Fall Social for the General of the Air Logistic Command and her
staff. The social was held Oct. 28, at the Buzzard’s Roost. Kelly Hillis, the Chair of
the Military Affairs Committee, presented Guy Starling with SSOO donation to the
Museum of Aviation. Hillis also presented Maj. General Polly Peyer with $1,300 for
the Airman’s & Family Readiness Center.

Hint Energies awards 810,000 to teachers

Flint Energies and its
philanthropic arm, the
Flint Energies Foundation
awarded a total of SIO,OOO
to teachers for innovative
lessons that energize their
students’ love of learning in
the third year of the co-op’s
Bright Ideas program.
Winning teachers were
surprised by Flint Energies
employees with flowers,
gift bags and Bright Ideas
checks.
The Bright Ideas program
distributes money as grants
of up to SI,OOO for teach
ers to do creative, innova
tive projects or lessons with
students. The grants are not
available for professional
development.
This year SIO,OOO in
Bright Ideas grants were
given to 13 winning teachers
and their team members at
schools in Houston, Macon,
and Marion counties.

will hold the Sixth Annual
Skyscapes Poster Contest
Awards Ceremony Nov. 22
at 10 a.m. in the Century of
Flight Hangar. This year’s
theme is “Man’s First Steps
on the Moon”, in celebra
tion of the upcoming 40th
Anniversary of the historic
event.

Flint Energies service area
encompasses parts of Bibb,

Macon, Marion, Monroe,
Muscogee, Peach, Schley,
Sumter, Talbot, Taylor,
Twiggs and Upson counties.
In September, the
Cooperative received nearly
30 grant applications, total
ing nearly $30,000 from
teachers.
