- The Vietnam Veterans of
America Warner Robins
Chapter No. 902 announces
its scholarship award program
for 2009. Scholarships will be
awarded in memory of Logan
Walton, a late member of the
chapter. The chapter will award
scholarships to high school
seniors in Houston County.

pate in the AFJROTC program

be the child or grandchild of
a veteran. Applicants must
be in financial need to meet
educational expenses, main

OBITUARIES "Always remembered"
LaVerne McSwain
PERRY - LaVerne McSwain, 74, passed away on Tuesday,
November 11, 2008. A celebration of her life was Friday,
November 14, 2008, in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral
Home in Perry.
Mrs. McSwain was born in
Ponchatoula, Louisiana to the late
Joe and Odessa Sanchez Pinion.
She had lived in Perry for just over two years having moved
from Castleberry, Florida and Wilmington, Delaware prior to
that. She was a member of the Minnie Pearls Red Hat Club at
Houston Springs in Perry, and was a homemaker.
Mrs. McSwain is survived by her loving husband of 22
years, Rudy McSwain of Perry; 10 children, Judy Byrd, Keith
Gray, Vicky Goetsell, Mike Gray, Glen Gray, Colleen yi/ilson,
Tim Gray, Jack Gray, Jr., Gary McSwain, and Doug McSwain;
24 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and two
brothers.

Hoyd H. Tabor
PERRY - Floyd H. Tabor, Jr, 63, passed away unexpect
edly on November 7, 2008. Funeral services will be held on
Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Perry United
Methodist Church. Interment will be private. The family
suggests contributions to Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation,
120 Wall Street, New York, New
York. 10005- 4001. Floyd was a
lifetime resident of Houston County
and the son of the late Floyd H. and Sara Gilbert Tabor. He
had worked as an appraiser for the Houston County Tax
Assessors Office. A 1963 Graduate of Perry High School, he
also graduated from the University of Georgia in 1967. He was
a member of the Perry United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his siblings, Allen Tabor and wife, Donna
of Perry, Dr. Kay Kimball and husband, Dr. Ron Harrist of
Austin, Texas, and Julie Tabor Richerson and husband, Dr.
Don Richerson of Daphne, Alabama.

Kennie Felton
Kennie Felton passed away on Friday, November 7, 2008.
He was born on July 23, 1957 in Byromville, Georgia to
George (deceased) and Mary Felton.
He is survived by his wife Gayla of Perry.
His mother; Mary Felton, three brothers,
George Felton 111, and Arthur Felton (Sandra)
of Binghamton, N.Y.; King Felton of New Port
Richey, Florida. Four sisters: Hazel Ladd,
Earlene Hughes, Betty Williams (Leroy) all
of Binghamton, N.Y. and Bessie Pomaney
(Moise) of League City, Texas.
Stepchildren: Amy Glover and Shannon
Wyatt of Monticella, Georgia. Step son-in-law Jason Glover,
step grandchildren Tatum and Jay-Jay Glover of Perry. Father
and mother-in-law Grady and Donna Johnson, Washington,
Georgia, brother and sister-in-law, Sammy Johnson (Toni) Toni
Johnson, Madison, Georgia. Sisters-in-law, Sherry Dorsey,
Arlington, Texas; Loretta Rainey, Watkinsville, Georgia.
Memorial services were held at the Richardson Funeral
Chapel Friday, Nov. 14, 2008.
