Special to the Journal
Smoking pigs and flying
wings come together next week
at the Perry-Houston County
Airport when the airport
hosts the Georgia Barbeque
Association’s fist cook-off of
the season Dec. 5 and 6.
There will be plenty of air
planes and barbeque competi

and everybody else.
The cook-off is the first of
the 2008-2009 season for the
Georgia Barbecue Association,
which will hold cook-offs
around Georgia over the next
year.
According to Danny Evans,
Chairman of the Board of the
GBA, the cook-off will have
BBQ teams from all over the
Southeast as well as many local
teams.
“We hope to have 30 teams”,
Evans said. “This event kicks
off the season points race, so I
am anticipating a good turnout
of teams.”
The event is being co-spon
sored by the Perry-Houston
County Airport Authority and
the Houston Home Journal
along with The BBQ Times, a
monthly publication catering
to barbeque enthusiast.
