Man sentenced to 15 years In prison
Special to the Journal
Brandin Dewayne
Humphrey, according to a
release, entered a guilty plea
this week during the middle
of his juiy trial for the armed
robbery of Bob’s Liquor Store
in Bonaire.
Humphrey was one of
three armed robbers who
attacked the store owner and
clerk on April 26,2007. Ledal
Hogue and Brandon Rozier
had previously pled guilty to
the offenses.
Humphrey was sentenced
to a total of 20 years to serve
15 years in prison for armed
robbery and the aggravated
assaults on the store owner
and the clerk. He will be
eligible for parole in 10 years
however it is probable that he
will serve 12-13 years of that
sentence due to the severity
of the case.
Humphrey’s plea came at
the conclusion of the tes
timony of the store owner,
Alpesh Patel, during which
the jury saw the store sur
veillance video showing the
armed robbery taking place.
Humphrey was clearly iden
tified on the surveillance
video as the last one in the
door, the one who locked the
door, turned off the exterior
sign and took the money out

of the registers. Humphrey
had previously worked at the
store as Christmas stocker
and was familiar with the
store layout. The robbers
attempted to destroy the
store surveillance system but
were unsuccessful.
When apprehended
Humphrey admitted that it
was him in the store, but
at trial denied that he had
anything to do with armed
robbery. Apparently the
viewing of the surveillance
videos during the testimony
of Mr. Patel was convincing
enough to Humphrey that
he changed his mind and
entered a plea.
The state recommend
ed that Humphrey get the
same sentence or more than
Brandon Rozier received on
his plea. Rozier had actually
stuck the store owner in the
face with the firearm causing
a laceration. Judge Lumsden
gave Humphrey 20 years to
serve 15 years, which was the
same serve time as Rozier,
however only 10 years of that
sentence is without parole.
“The prosecution of seri
ous violent felonies is of the
utmost importance to me,”
said Houston County District
Attorney Kelly Buke. “The
