HIS LAST WORDS.
Rear Admiral Coghlan, commandant
of the Brooklyn navy yard, whose rep
utation as a relator of good stories
has increased each time he has spok
en at a dinner, told a story a few
nights ago which was given to illus
trate his distaste for being the last
speaker.
“Having the last word,” the rear ad
miral said, “reminds me of a story I
heard not long ago.
“A certain man died and a clergy
man was engaged to offer a eulogy.
This worthy minister prepared a ser
mon of exceeding length and strength,
but just before he entered the parlor
to deliver it he thought that it might
be advisable to learn what the dead
man's last words had been. So he
turned to one of the weeping younger
sons and asked:
“ ‘Aly boy, can you tell me your
father’s last words?’
“ ‘He didn't have none,’ the boy re
plied. ‘Ma was with him to the end.’ ”
New York Tribune.
EAST INDIAN ENGLISH.
Collecting Babuisms was one of the
late Lady Curzon’s hobbies in India.
Perhaps the choicest specimen ad
dressed to Lord Curzon occurred in a
petition which began: “Your Orpu
lent and Predominant Excellency.” In
a letter a Babu spoke of his attain
ments: “As to my scholastic calibre,
I was recently ejected from Calcutta
University. 1 am now masticating.”
An Indian station master, having been
annoyed by a certain female milk
hawker, addressed the follow remon
strance to her employer: “Honored
Sir —I beg you will remove your hand
maiden of milk, as she is not good
fellow, and we cannot stand her
cheeks.” —Argonaut.
AHEAD, YET BEHIND.
The nervous foreigner got up and
went back to the conductor of the
street car.
“Pardon, m’sieur,” said he, “but zee
car, he run so slow, and why, if you
pleeze? Eees it not scT?”
“Yep,” replied the conductor. “We
can’t help it, though. You see, the car
ahead is behind.”
The foreigner’s eyes opened wider.
“Would you mind saying him again?”
he asked apologetically.
“I say,” replied the conductor, louder
than before, “that the car ahead is be
hind. See?”
The foreigner returned to his seat.
“Zee car-r-r ahead, he ees behind?”
said he to himself. “Most wonderful,
most astonishing is zis country!”—
Judge.
THE CALLER ONE OF THEM.
“Aly dear,” said the caller, with a
smile, to the little girl who occupied
the study while her father, an eminent
literary man, was at dinner, “I suppose
you assist your father by entertaining
the bores?”
“Yes, sir,” replied the little girl,
gravely; “please be seated.” —Judge.
DOING HIS PART.
“Is it a fact that your mother-in-law
threw herself out of the third-story
window and you did nothing to re
strain her?”
“Excuse me; I went to the first
story to catch her, but she had already
passed!”—ll Diavolo Rosa.

TO THE DOUBTERS WHO ARE
SICK AND SUFFERING AND
WANT TO GET WELL.
We want to give them the proof,
the evidence, of what “Dewberry's
Delight” can do for them after other
remedies have failed. We don’t ask
anyone to take our word for it, but
ask those who have used it, and we
are willing to abide by what they
say, as we are satisfied that 95 out of
100 will tell you that it is the best
thing on the market to act on the
liver, the bowels, and the kidneys. It
removes the foul waste matter from
the system and thereby restores the
nerve force. In taking “Dewberry’s
Delight” there is never any derange
ment of digestion in the most deli
cate patient. It has properties as a
Uric Acid Solvent, it is strongly diu
retic, and is the most active urinary
bactericide of which we know. It
causes no irritation to the stomach or
bowels, and its effect on the neck of
the bladder is stimulating and non-ir
ritant.
For constipation, fermentation and
gastric disturbance, we are satisfied
that you will find that “Dewberry’s
Delight” has no equal. If you are sick
try it. Everybody should know about
it. Sold by druggists. Price 50c.
