brother died two years ago last Au
gust. He had typhoid-pneumonia, was
sick about four weeks. The sweetest
consolation is, he was such a good
Christian boy. He was converted three
months and one day before he died.
I live in the southern part of Geor
gia. Papa is county commissioner of
Grady county. We live near Cairo,
the leading syrup market in the South.
My brother has the sweetest baby
in the world, or at least ,we think so.
He is the pet in our family. He is
named Carl, for my brother that died.
How many of the cousins have been
in protracted meetings this year? We
are praying for a great revival at our
church in July. Think Bro. Willie is
acquainted with our preacher, J. E.
Channell, of Metcalfe. He is surely
a good preacljer, and a good man. We
all think so much of him.
We are the only Methodist family
in this community, and the only one
that takes The Golden Age. It is a
fine paper, and especially the story,
“In the Name of the Law.’’ It cer
tainly is a warning to men and boys.
The story I am sending is a true one.
I know there is no chance for me to
get the prize, but there is nothing
like trying. Hope to see my letter in
the department, any way. With best
wishes for The Golden Age, I am,
PAPA’S PET.

HELPS IN THE HOME.
Dear Little Mother:
I am sending you a story for the
contest that I hope will at least be
considered worthy of publication. I
am a girl fourteen years old, and live
a lonely life. My mother died when
I was only nine, and my home is at
my grandfather’s, where I have been
living for four years. I have one
brother and one sister. My grand
mother takes The Golden Age, and it
helps us in our home life.
Yours truly,
A. I. C.
Koscinsko, Miss.

Dear Little Mother:
I wish to enter the contest which is
now open. Enclosed you will find my
story. I have termed it ‘‘A Lamenta
tion.” It is the true story of the in
telligence and faithfulness of my own
dog, and contains approximately two
hundred and fifty words. I am six
teen years old, and a student of the
high school of this town. I am send
ing it rather early, but that is due to
KANSAS WOMAN HELPLESS.
Lawrence, Kas. —Mr. J. F. Stone, of
this city, says, “My wife suffered for
ten years from womanly troubles, dur
ing two years of which she was to
tally helpless. She was examined by
many physicians, some of whom gave
her up to die. Finally she began to
take Cardui, and since then has great
ly improved in health. The tonic,
strengthening, and restorative effects
of Cardui, the woman’s tonic, on the
womanly constitution, are the most
valuable qualities of this popular med
icine. Cardui acts specifically on the
womanly constitution. Half a century
of success proves that Cardui will do
all that is claimed for it. Try it for
your trouble.

“A FARMER GIRL.”
My Dear Little Mother:
I live on a farm and think it is a
very happy life. We have so many
pleasures that the city young people
know nothing about. When 1 was
going to school our teacher carried
all of us children down into the woods
to a place by the railroad, called the
“curve,” where there are just “heaps”
and ‘‘heaps” of violets. There we had
dinner, and afterwards such a good
time gathering the pretty little pur
ple violets, and the large “rooster
heads” and making them fight. I am
only ten years old, but I want to join
the. Circle. If you will let so small a
girl in for one time, she will run
back again from way down among
the flowers.
Your little friend,
LINNIE MAE SIKES.
