not to let it occupy our time further.
Here I shall quote pretty freely
from G. H. Pember’s “Earth’s Earl
iest Ages,” adding such comments to
what he says as have occurred to me
in my study of the subject.
First, the Lord began His final
work of creating woman, by casting
Adam into a deep sleep. So did
Christ, the second Adam, lie three
days in the sleep of death, before the
creation of His bride, the Church,
could be commenced.
Then, while Adam slept, God opened
his side and took out a rib wherewith
he made woman. So while the sec
ond Adam slept in death upon the
cross, a soldier pierced His side, so
that there came forth blood and
water, and by means of that blood
His bride, the Church, is being form
ed. Rev. 5:9, “Thou didst purchase
unto God by thy blood, men of every
tribe and tongue and people, and na
tion.” This is the cry of the elders,
as heard by John on the Island of
Patmos, when Christ and His bride
get together, and they sing the new
song.
After the rib had been withdrawn
God closed up the flesh instead there
of. Only one rib was taken; only
one woman was made for Adam,
though many were afterwards born
of him. So also will it be with
Christ, the second Adam; He, too,
will have but one heavenly bride, the
Church of the first-born. The body
of the bride, the Church, is now being
formed; and during His presence in
the air, it will be completed. Multi
tudes will be afterwards saved by
Him. Kings and daughters will be
among His honorable women; but up
on His right hand will stand the queen
in the gold of Ophir. Psalm 45fD.
When God made woman He brought
her unto Adam. So God will eventu
ally bring the Church, which is the
elect bride, unto Christ, the bride
groom.
Upon receiving his wife Adam ex
claimed, “This is now bone of my
bones, and flesh of my flesh.” So,
Christ, the second Adam, tells us that
“He is the vine; we are the branches.”
While the Apostle Paul tells us, “We
are members of His body, His flesh
and His bones.” Eph. 5:30.
Adam then proceeds: “She shall be
called woman, for she is taken out
of man.” Mr. Pember here calls at
tention to the fact that the “ish” is
the Hebrew word for man, “isha” for
woman. She partook of Adam’s na
ture, therefore she should be called
after his name.
And so at His coming, Christ, hav
ing changed the bodies of His waiting
people into the likeness of His glori
fied body, and made them partakers
of His nature, will then fulfill His
promise to the overcomer, “I will write
upon him my new name.”
Therefore shall a man leave his
father, and shall cleave to his wife,
and they shall be one flesh. This re
minds us of our Lord’s saying, “He
that loveth father or mother more
than me, is not worthy of me.”
How significant this history! It is
brief. Almost crudely put as we view
it, with longing eyes to understand
the mystery connected with it, and
yet, every statement in it pulsates
with thrilling interest.
Surely, the similarity between the
statements concerning the creation of
Eve—the bride of the first Adam, and
the formation of the Church, the
bride of the second Adam are not ac
cidental.
It shows how, away back at the be
ginning of man’s history there was
a deep laid plan in the mind of God,
culminating in Jesus Christ the Sa
viour of this world.
And as we trace this history of suc
ceeding generations and see God’s
dealings with men, we see more and
more the light shining upon His great
predetermined plan for the ultimate
redemption of man, through Jesus
Christ.

Ask your doctor how often he prescribes an alcoholic stimulant for

how often he prescribes a tonic for them. He will probably answer,

The fact that we are among the very oldest manufacturers of
commercial fertilizers in the South and stand at the top of the
list, means that experience, that dear teacher, has taught us
how to mix fertilizers to enrich your soil.
FURMAN on the outside of the bag means HONESTY and
FULL WEIGHT on the inside. We make different brands, but
only one kind—the BEST.
When you fertilize with FURMAN goods you know every
pound of plant food shown on the analysis is in the fertilizer
and ready to make your crops grow. They push the plant from
start to finish.
FURMAN HIGH-GRADE FERTILIZERS guarantee the
growth of big crops.
The cheapest fertilizers are the most expensive in the end,
for the cost of the fertilizers is insignificant compared with the
loss of a crop.
FURMAN FERTILIZERS are worth a little more in the
warehouse, but a great deal more in the field. A really high
grade fertilizer is a good, common-sense investment, but a cheap
fertilizer is an expense.
When you are ready for your fertilizers call on our agents.
If your nearest fertilizer agent doesn’t handle our goods, take
it up with us direct.
