Auburn Police Department arrests
Two arrested by Auburn police
The Auburn Police Department reports
the arrests of two people, including:
•Stacy Marie Powell, 42, 143 Quail Val
ley Road, Auburn, battery.
•Todd Timothy Cay wood. 27, 171 Giles
Road, Winder, driving unsafe/improperly
equipped vehicle, driving while driver’s
license is suspended or revoked, posses
sion and use of drug-related objects and
possession of methamphetamine.

APD responds to suspicious package
Auburn Police Department
officers recently responded
to a report of a suspicious
package in the dumpster at
Dollar Tree on Auburn Park
Drive.
A store employee said a
strange beeping noise was
coming from the dumpster
that should only contain
cardboard. Officers discov
ered two plastic-style gar
bage bags inside and notified
the Gwinnett County Explo
sive Ordinance Disposal
(EOD) Unit and the Georgia
Bureau of Investigation was
called in.
Upon completion of the
investigation it was deter
mined that the device was
a smoke detector in some
trash that had been improp
erly placed in the dumpster.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other recent incidents
requiring the response of the
APD included:
•fraud at a Blackberry
Circle residence, where a
woman reported receiving
emails from an unknown
email address asking the
complainant to sign in and
update personal information.
•harassing communica
tions at a Wages Road loca
tion. where a female report
ed her neighbor, who had
passed her in a no passing
area on Wages Road, stopped
at a stop sign, got out of
his vehicle, approached her
vehicle and confronted her
about driving too slow. She
said she told the neighbor
that the speed limit was 35
mph.
Winder Police Department Incidents
WPD investigates forgery, death reports
The Winder Police Depart
ment reports the following
recent incidents requiring
officers to respond:
•forgery at McDonalds on
North Broad Street, where
a female attempted to pay
for food with a counterfeit
$10 bill.
•death investigation at a
Georgia Avenue residence,
where a 70-year-old male
was found unconscious.
•missing person at an
Apperson Drive residence,
where a woman reported
her niece missing. The niece
was later located at a Capitol
Avenue location.
•aggravated assault on
a law enforcement officer,
fleeing/attempting to elude
a law enforcement officer,
reckless driving, failure to
obey a stop sign or yield
after stopping, speed
ing, passing on a hill or
curve, willful obstruction
of law enforcement offi
cers, improper lane change/
failure to maintain lane and
failure to give signal/insuffi
cient use of turn signals on
South Beulah Street, where
the driver of a 2013 Buick
Limited, stopped for speed
ing, fled from officers fol
lowing a traffic stop.
•aggravated assault at
a 2nd Street residence,
where a man reported being
attacked by another male.
The complainant stated the
other man struck him in the
back of the head with a golf
club.
•special investigation at an
Apperson Drive residence,
where a man had accidental
ly shot himself in the arm. It
was determined the man was
trying to clean the gun when
he shot himself.
•simple battery - Fami
ly Violence Act (FVA) at a
Dogwood Drive residence,
where a domestic dispute
was reported between a man
and his female companion.
The male said the female,
whom had been living with
him for about three weeks,
began arguing when he told
the female to leave because
his kids were coming from
Atlanta for a visit. He said
she became very angry and
"swung at” him, but he
ducked and she missed. He
stated she started throwing
stuff around the apartment.

enforcement officers at a
West May Street residence.

ing on Hal Jackson Road,
where the driver of a 2008
Ford Explorer was stopped
for going 50 mph in a 35
mph zone.
•outstanding warrant at a
West May Street location,
where a traffic stop was ini
tiated on the driver of a 2004
Ford Expedition.
•no insurance at a South
Broad Street location, where
a traffic stop was initiated on
the driver of a 2014 Chevro
let Sonic.
•possession of marijua
na, no insurance and open
container violation at a 2nd
Street location, where a traf
fic stop was conducted on
the driver of a 2013 Chevro
let Malibu.
•probation violation at an
Elm Street location.
•disturbance at a South
Broad Street residence,
where a female reported
that her mother had been
approached in a threatening
manner by her neighbor.
•theft by taking at a
Williams Street residence,
where a woman reported she
suspected her ex-boyfriend
of taking her pink 9mm gun
out of her safe.
•forgery and printing, exe
cuting, negotiating checks,
drafts, etc. knowing infor
mation is in error or ficti
tious at South State Bank
on Mimosa Street, where a
man had attempted to cash a
fraudulent check.
•terroristic threats and acts
at an East Midland Avenue
residence where a woman
reported her ex-husband was
threatening her through text
messages.
•hit and run; duty upon
striking an unattended vehi
cle at Bealls on Monroe
Highway, where a woman
reported her 2002 Mitsubi
shi Montero had been dam
aged on the rear passenger
side bumper area.
•criminal trespass at Holly
Hill Mall on West Athens
Street, where someone had
spray painted on the build
ing.
•criminal trespass at a
James Street residence,
where a female reported that
her ex-boyfriend had been
calling and harassing her
due to the fact that she has a
new boyfriend.
The new boyfriend report
ed the driver’s side window
on his 2003 Ford F-150
truck had been “complete
ly destroyed” while it was
parked at this location over
night.
•public drunkenness at
Publix on Monroe Highway,
where a man was found
behind the building.

Barrow County Sheriff’s Office incidents
Barrow officers respond to incidents
Officers with the Barrow County Sher
iff’s Office recently responded to the fol
lowing incidents:
•accident in the Walmart parking lot on
Atlanta Highway, Winder, where a woman
had crashed her 2008 Dodge Durango into
a pole, causing moderate damage to the
vehicle.
•driving without a valid driver’s license
and following too closely on University
Parkway at Hog Mountain Road, Winder,
where a two-vehicle traffic accident was
reported.
•damage to property at Farmer’s Fur
niture on Plaza Drive, Winder, where the
overhead light on the loading dock had
been broken by someone throwing rocks
at it.
•driving while driver's license is sus
pended or revoked on University Parkway
at Kilcrease Road, where a traffic accident
was reported.
•theft by shoplifting at Walmart on
Atlanta Highway, where a man reportedly
selected $304 in merchandise, put it in a
buggy and pushed the buggy out of the
store without paying for the merchandise.
•theft by taking at a Blackstock Road,
Auburn, residence, where a man reported
someone had stolen a 6x14 trailer he had
rented from The Home Depot.
•theft by shoplifting at Walmart on
Atlanta Highway, where a man reported
a male had taken a $6 pack of T-shirts and
walked past all points of sale without pay
ing for the item.
•disorderly conduct at a Cedar Creek
Drive, Winder, residence, where a woman
reported, as she was walking home from
a bus stop with her four-year-old son, her
male neighbor yelled a sexually harassing
comment to her.
•giving a false name, address or birth-
date to a law enforcement officer at a
Williams Road, Auburn, residence, where
a disturbance was reported.
A man, who gave officers a false name
and birthdate, at the residence stated he and
his girlfriend were arguing over money, but
she left before officers arrived.
•knowingly driving a motor vehicle on a
suspended, cancelled or revoked registra
tion and driving while driver's license is
suspended or revoked on Atlanta Highway
NW at Carl-Cedar Hill Road, where a
traffic stop was initiated on the driver of a
1998 Chevrolet S-10 truck.
•hit and run; duty of the driver to stop
at or return to the scene of an accident,
failure to yield right of way at a yield sign
and driving while unlicensed on University
Parkway at Harrison Mill Road, Winder,
where the driver of an 18-wheeler reported
he struck the driver of a white truck that
fled the accident scene.
•theft by deception at a Tori Drive,
Winder, residence, where a man report
ed he had ordered a pocket bike for his
son, but had never received the item and
the phone number for the company her
ordered from has now been disconnected.
•criminal damage to property and crimi
nal trespass at Barrow Commercial Tire on
Loganville Highway, Winder, where the
owner reported two surveillance cameras
on the outside of the building had been
pulled down by a male who was seen on
camera looking all around the building.
•theft by receiving stolen property at an
Eastbrook Drive, Winder, residence, where
a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, reported sto
len out of Clarke County, was located.
•driving without a valid driver’s license
and permitting an unlicensed person to
drive on Bankhead Highway at Industry
Lane, Winder, where a traffic stop was
initiated on the driver of a 1999 Ford truck
who was driving on the right side of the
curb.
•improper lane change/failure to main
tain lane and driving under the influence
(DUI) of alcohol on University Parkway
at Carl-Bethlehem Road, Winder, where a
traffic stop was conducted on the driver of
a 2015 Toyota Tundra truck.
